Lets talk GEC!

Well, it saddens me to point out that you guys are clearly wrong on this point. Besides the obvious superior features of the Owl, I challenge you guys to try and find a brass pony bead! 🤣🤣🤣View attachment 1693695

Found by searching for "brass beads that look like a horse" - if you say "pony" instead of "horse", you end up with all pony beads. But horse/pony/equine beads are out there. Or you could just put the knife in your pocket. :)

I happened to be on DLT when the 68 stag White Owl posted so I lucked out. I have been looking for the release of the H10 in marrow bone. GEC actually had it on their site so I picked one up. Have not seen it on any distributor in that variation just kingwood and red micarta. I wonder if they are going to release the marrow bone on their site only? They are handy little knives. I have a couple I use in the kitchen a lot.

There were some marrow on GP. I was torn between the two, but went with red micarta. I really like the shield and color, and I guess most of my knives have micarta on them.

I don't think the GEC fixed blades get the attention they should, but I guess that might be a good thing given the difficulty in getting folders now days. I saw GP's offering after I got one off GEC's site. GEC was $119 plus shipping. I think the last one I bought in 2017 was about $85 all in. After the pain of higher prices wears off, the use these little guys get makes me happy. I'm a fan of the H23 Upland and Canoe as well. You just have to keep some food grade mineral oil and a rag handy lol.

I see it as a somewhat flashy and practical hip carry when I'm hiking. My other fixed blades are an enormous 3V bark river that I would not carry around, or some tiny EDCs.

GEC 85 Rotten Banana Bone. This one has excellent color. I'm hoping to see some more of these covers on a pattern soon.
Love the rotten banana bone covers, probably my favorite dye done by GEC! I don’t have one yet, but hope to land one someday! You have a lovely example there!

Thank you. Back in the day the dealers posted pictures of each knife they were offering. We seldom see that anymore since they fly off the shelves so fast. Good luck with your hunt.

Did anybody ever get hold of one of these? One of GEC's more eccentric productions this 56 Weaver Jack with three blades and springs, must be thick....remember them hanging about for some fair time back then. I bought the 2 blade Spear and the interesting single Hawkbill/Pruner. But the Weaver keeps haunting me...;)

I think that must have been before my GEC years, but I don’t recall even seeing that before! That’s quite a knife!

I have a couple of the 29s with three blades and springs, and they’re actually quite pocketable!

I like beefy jackknives, but that one looks like it would be uncomfortable when using the clip or pen. Unless the big loom fixer blade sits lower than I'm imagining.

I have one and love it! Great pattern. The two blade is awesome too. A real gem.
