Has anyone compared a 86 vs a 73 or have pics side by side? Debating if its worth picking up a Remington Prospector 73 pattern, but it seems similar to so many knives I have. I just bought an 86 which, like the 73, is also 3 3/4 in closed length. One website lists the 73 with a blade of 3.00" while the 86 has a 3.15" blade.

They're pretty similar. The Angus Jack is wider due to the sheepsfoot blade and maybe a little thicker.

Here is an 86 single blade next to a 73 single blade. Not much difference at all, size-wise.

Blades look basically identical in length to me, big difference besides the 86 being a sleeve board is that the 73 has squared off bolster which results in tangs being flush with end of bolster/knife which in turn makes closed length slightly shorter.

Similar lengths but different in hand. I would recommend picking up a Prospector. :thumbsup:

Smaller knives with lined and pinched bolsters are just sweet. With great stag, they are phenomenal.

Besides our forum knife, I think this 68 has the potential to be the GEC knife of the year.

Just buy the Remi,trust me just buy it.

100% agree. Picked up the jigged and loved it. Then got a sweet deal on a bloodwood. And IMO the bloodwood is the winner between the two. And best of the year!

There's a comparison picture of a 86, 73 , 47, 44 and 83
The #86 Angus feel a lot "beefier" (pun intended) than the 73 in the hands and in the pocket!

And theres the 73 next to a 93 and the 86 angus

LOL. My #89 Fruit knife has a home in the kitchen and is used daily by my wife and daughters. It's probably my most used GEC

I've always the 56 was an under-rated pattern. It fits the hand so well and is large enough to perform most daily tasks. Additionally it is not too big for a pocket carry.
