Lets talk GEC!

The way those nail nicks line up looks really nice and functional in the rendering. Definitely stands out.

This is gonna be a serious workhorse! Also, are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that secondary blade a lambsfoot? Maybe we'll get another single blade lambsfoot in '22?
Definitely a lambfoot. Exciting!
In my opinion, it is a perfect blade combo for a Sowbelly. 1.) It does away with the spey blade which I never use - 2.) It somewhat resolves the obtuse Sheepfoot issue by swapping it with a full size Lambsfoot ( I think this will make it easier in the hand) and 3.) the low profile of the muskrat clip will feel better in hand while using the Lambsfoot blade versus a traditional clip.

Seriously, I dig this - it's an exciting offering.
I agree with all three of your points here. I think that muskrat looks like an upscaled 48 improved trapper clip point rather than a stallion.

I like it. Do I like it enough to spend money on it? Tbh probably not. But it’s a cool knife nonetheless. It’s funky and functional and weird but in a practical way. No beard combs on this one.

I've been wondering why GEC's pattern numbers skip certain numbers like 07, 17, 20, 37, 84 for example. Why is this, and would GEC ever come up with a new pattern to fill those numbers?

I don't think GEC has ever done a sow belly pattern. How about a #84 sow belly?
Called it^^^^

I was only off by four on the pattern number. 😁

It's good to see that GEC is maintaining their tradition of making slightly eccentric knives from time to time.

Just when you think it's got pedestrian...Bill H. unleashes a wake-up knife :D

Not my thing as I'm not a fan of two equal sized blade Jacks. But it has a lot of scope here: add a small Wharncliffe at the other end and you've got a unique Sowbelly, fans of the Lambfoot may hope to see another release of the CC designed masterpiece. I agree with Travman Travman the Sowbelly frame needs a shield for balance and put Rat-Tails on this one why don't you?

I love sowbellies! Psyched to see GEC producing the pattern. I am definitely in, assuming I can get a hold of one. That's a pretty big "if", of course (especially here in Europe).

It reminds me a little of this one, from Charlie Bell (one of four of Charlie's sowbellies that I own; the other three are all single blade). Great knife! The sowbelly pattern fits my hand so well and the combination of a straight edged blade and one with some belly is really useful.

I’m not particularly excited about the #88. Never been a big fan of sowbellies (ok, to be honest, I’ve never owned one, because I don’t really like the look), and the blade combination just seems weird to me. I’d love to see another “normal” Lambsfoot from GEC, but I don’t think it really fits the sowbelly pattern.

Also, just out of curiosity, am I the only one who can’t see the photos posted by untytled untytled and JTB_5 JTB_5 a couple pages back? Yesterday I thought maybe they just weren’t loading for me for some reason, but this is still all I can see.

Hmmm, The new upcoming 88 is an interesting creature indeed. I like it's uniqueness and think it has a purposeful blade combination. I keep looking at it and wondering how this thing will balance out and ride in the pocket?

Barrett, all I could see was a blue square with a white question mark inside in each post. Sometimes I can get a photo from that by "control-clicking" the question mark icon and choosing "Open in a new tab". But this time, all I got was a trip to the GEC website and a "page not found" message. Based on what Dylan and others discussed regarding an updated tang stamp number, I conjectured that they were links to the original GEC pics with the wrong main blade number (1 instead of 8), and those pics were taken down before I saw the pics posted here.

Anyone know more info on the delaminating on the new 49/94’s?

News to me... What have you heard?
Oh, saw the picture... that's not top quality.
And if GEC marks them down, it won't matter, because the retailers will mark them up that much more.
Looks like a glare from a light to me. But we will see I guess?
Tap the picture and read the comments from the UK vendor. The separation happened after assembly. Doubtful they mark them up most likely they will be S model knives.
