Lets talk GEC!

Absolutely agree. I love my GECs, but have several with poor QC. The only ones I ever received that were sharp were the 36 run from 22. My 83 was more like Case quality, blade play up and down and sideways. Usable as a gent's knife, but not for daily use. Several others that had issues with fit and finish, thankfully blades were perfect.
I'd like to see some pics of these "fit and finish issues" on your "several other" GECs please.

76 Root Beer Float, a very attractive acrylic.

All recent 83s were like that, mine is wobbling in every direction too. You know, I actually think that GEC is the best modern serial manufacturer of traditional pocket knives, but many of my GECs have something that I am a little bit uncomfortable with (wobbling, unsharpened tip, liners visibly wider than scales). Still I believe they are the best. I have a few Case knives, both recent and about 15 Y.O., and man they are bad. Maybe they were better before being aquired by Zippo, but I didn't had a chance to find out.

Have a question about recent 14 goldenrod: why are the corners of the blade's back not smooth, as on older Northfields? GEC using some new machine/technology? Maybe now not only CNC sharpening, but also die cutting?

It's 2022. Cowboys at the end of the hall. Obviously it's time for a #22 Gunstock.

How could Bill pass the opportunity for a model number 222222?
I meant to hit the "like" button but tagged "quote" instead.

So I figured I would just type out an agreement!

A short comment on fit and finish, my new 65 has barely perceptable gaps, invisible to the naked eye but light will come thru.

Still light years ahead of other brands.

So I really dont have time to take pics for you. Especially the 83 which I gave to a gentlemanly friend who I knew would never use it in a way that would push the wobbles of the blade.
I will give you a list, starting with the 5. The scales are sambar stag, well technically they are. Some of the worst looking stag I have ever seen. Next is one of my 86s. There are several flakes in the bone that looks like they could come off, and you can put fingernail under them. The pull is so light, you can easily push the blade closed with thumb when holding it, which is highly unusual for a GEC. My 97 (which is otherwise a stunning knife) has a shield which sticks up on one side enough to slide a fingernail under it. My White Owl 68 showed up with grind scratches. Every GEC I have bought I have had to reprofile and resharpen, except for the 36s which was IMO a perfect run. I do post a lot of pics on insta, but do not emphasize any of the issues.
Let me say, for a small USA blade company they make AMAZING knives. And I LOVE mine. But they aren't always perfect.

Sounds to me that some of the issues would be bad enough to warrant return to the factory for service.

And some of the stuff, like sharpening, doesn't really seem like an issue to me.

Man, what a bad luck... 🙁

Every knife should cut, so badly sharpened knife is always an issue, I suppose.

Well, I've never received a GEC that wouldn't cut right out of the tube. Have you ever gotten a new GEC that wouldn't cut?

Sharpened to my satisfaction? Maybe not, but that's not an "issue" for GEC to have to address or correct. Some of my GECs were a total bear to sharpen, in fact.

If a knife is truly "badly sharpened" like a wavy edge or no edge, then it should go back to the factory.

No, but I don't have much of them really.

Agreed. Some people like their edge to be razor sharp and mirror polished, that's their habits not manufacturer's oversight. But maybe F ferdiad got some bad luck there too.
