Lets talk GEC!

Talk amongst yer selves. Do you hate it? Do you love it? Does it scare you? Does it offend you? Are you ambivalent? This one seems to really generate strong feelings and impressions. It’s like….knife art. Is it traditional? Is it woke? Is it post modern? So many questions…

I dunno, I kind of want one for the novelty of it.

I like it. Lanyard hole, easy open, different tang stamp, a 25! Checks alot of boxes. And opens them too.

I have to concede it's intriguing. It looks to me like the brainchild of a creative one-handed drunk from Lilliput, but then that might be the point. To those who want this, enjoy! There are certainly some excellent covers to choose from.

Question:
Regarding MSRP, I can't seem to find one for GEC products.

Reason for question:
Trying to determine if I want a specific knife that is in production about to be released. From advice I have received from this forum, my best bet is to try to reserve a knife and be very quick with drop from dealers. If that's the game, I can play it but would like to now if I should pass on that round .. Example would be #252123 TIDIOUTE CUTLERY EO BEERLOW, Its a non traditional one bladed knife with the blade only usable at the top half. If the MSRP was 85.00. I would seriously think about it, but if it was 144.00 I'm just not interested at that price point.

Hard to play the game without a MSRP suggested information.

Thanks for your advice and help.

Hey! Welcome to Bladeforums!

It sounds like you're looking for Fight Club. That's awesome, always nice to have another fighter.

We talk about that, or not, in the Good, Bad and Ugly forum. That's where knife prices, dealers, drops and the like can be discussed all the live long day.

This subforum, the Porch, is just for relaxing and talking about the knives.

And that new Beerlow is very cool, I'm playing with mine right now! If you are lucky enough to score one, come back and tell us what you think of it.
What covers are you considering?

Knowing the MSRP isn't really going to give you relevant information. We have GEC dealers who are selling all the knives they get directly on Ebay, and others who are charging far more than MSRP. Your best bet is to find a dealer who isn't marking up too badly, and get on their good side. GEC is very much a luxury collectible at this point, and if you see knife in the wild for a price you're willing to pay, I say grab it. It won't be there long.

There is a huge variation on prices between GEC Dealers . For my two Cotton Samplers it was a little over 25 % . You just have to try and make a Reservation and make a decision or try to get in on a Drop and make a Very Quick decision . Welcome to the Porch and the New GEC's Frenzy .

PXL_20230215_151656816.jpgi am in love with this knife. Imo some of the best sawcut in a while, both of mine are crack free and with a great pull. This is a frame I have been wanting from them for a long while now (and no a 97 isn't the same for me). I would love some non bullet versions but a third might be in my future for a recover.
Only complaint is the box doesn't fit in my storage system.

Too Bad about the Box Size my friend . Beautiful knives though . I am sure that you will enjoy your new one .

The good news is my grandaddy barlow and 25 beerlow both showed up a little earlier than expected today. The bad news is my better half intercepted both packages. Win some lose some.
Not that I would have any experience with hiding knife packages from my wife or any knowledge of anything having anything to do with hiding a package from my wife...whatsoever...but I once overheard someone say something about having them sent to a work buddy or nearby friend instead. But I wouldn't have a clue :)

Really tempted to consider swapping the sheepfoot blade from my older 25 with bocote covers into a new red sawcut bone 25 frame. Not a fan of the combo spear/opener blade.
