Yeah a little pen blade would be a nice addition to the somewhat long, thin and slicey primary. The 49 is a sweet little knife, but adding a pen blade would take it to the next level.
I would like to see GEC tackle the Peanut.Yeah a little pen blade would be a nice addition to the somewhat long, thin and slicey primary.
I’d get behind this. A real GEC peanut.I would like to see GEC tackle the Peanut.
I like 2 blade jacks, clearly.![]()
Oddly enough when that pattern came out I don’t recall anyone identifying it as a peanut pattern, although I do agree it’s a peanut-like knife in many respects. They DID do a peanut! They just called it The Beagle (I think since Snoopy, from Peanuts, was a beagle)

To me it's always been a "peanut"... just flipped over.Oddly enough when that pattern came out I don’t recall anyone identifying it as a peanut pattern, although I do agree it’s a peanut-like knife in many respects.
Yeah, it's nice, but it's no Peanut. Way too big. This little guy isn't exactly a peanut but it checks a lot of the same boxes and is about as small as I like to carry. I enjoy it.

They came really close! I also would love to see a GEC peanut. It feels like it would be just a little too small for GEC production but they did recently put out a 2.5" keychain knifeI’d get behind this. A real GEC peanut.
Sadly except for the 09 and 33, there aren’t a lot of really slim GEC patterns. They tend to be fat and bulbous even if they’re relatively small. The peanut works because the two-blade configuration gives it enough girth to work despite being so small.
Probably a rockwell hardness testingDoes anyone know what this little dot mark means? I’m thinking maybe a reject? This is on a whaler #462218 I just picked up. Nothing seems wrong with it but it’s just weird to have a mark like that. I know some other makers mark a reject like that, spyderco does I think.

that could be, maybe a previous owner? I would doubt GEC would do that to a knife they sell right?Probably a rockwell hardness testing
I would say its a previous owner. I have never seen it from GECthat could be, maybe a previous owner? I would doubt GEC would do that to a knife they sell right?
It’s definitely a Rockwell hardness test mark. I’ve seen this on many #46’s and they can have this mark on either blade. Apparently GEC did it because of the abnormally large size of the blades. It’s a great looking knife though. EnjoyDoes anyone know what this little dot mark means? I’m thinking maybe a reject? This is on a whaler #462218 I just picked up.
