Relax. No one is making a judgement. Just expressing preferences. Past 2 years they have only released 2 or 3 knives with their founding shields. Now feels like every knife they release is an SFO and they don't really have an identity of their own. YMMV. I liked their original concept better. That's all.

That's funny.

Johnny's etch too? Interesting. View attachment 2167714

I like it - I hope I can snag one! I don't expect it will be cheap though.

A bit of a critique though: The notches on the "e-blade", though nicely symmetrical, aren't indicative of the more traditional form. The notch on the spine serves no purpose as it is not providing any access to blades behind it. I also would prefer the stripper notch to be closer to the tang rather than the tip like they have it configured here.

It's still a cool knife and will make for a great tool regardless.

The new electrician knife is interesting but totally useless for me and not terribly elegant. It will, however, probably feel very high quality in hand.

I know they have stopped staking SFOs. It's just with the variety of shields, specialized blades and etches that it feels like every release is an SFO.

I always felt like the older “classic GEC” shields were pretty boring. The SFOs “in the day” usually just differed from the regular production in details like cover material/colors, shield, and maybe blade etch, and usually took the good (but perhaps slightly humdrum) regular knife up a good bit in terms of design. SFOs mostly went away around 2020 or so if I recall. In the last couple of years regular GEC production has definitely gotten more interesting. I can’t uniformly say better, because they’re often more kitschy which isn’t really my thing, but I’m sure some people like them. And some have been really great.

They do a lot of shields, and they do them well- pinned
