Lets talk GEC!

Honestly - when I first saw the "ESPL" acronym, I thought "ESPeciaL" and figured they'd be going with a spicy Latin motif complete with the "Tango" guitar shield.

It also made me think of "ESL" or "English as a Second Language" which are "Especial" classes they put non-English-speaking immigrants in down here in South Florida to help get them up to speed for their other classes, which are mostly still taught in English (well, maybe 50/50 🤣) - and also fit with my imagined Latin theme...
Probably Latin for Hemlock Orange.

Epoxy stabilized poop layers?

You guys kept joking about it and look what you've done. First the hot dog shield is gone now this, and you don't think Bill reads these threads!?
Dear Bill, speaking for everyone on Bladeforums and/or every organism on planet Earth, thank you for killing off the food shields :D.

PS Please bring back more Northfield Keyhole shields.

I love the hot dog shield and am still looking to add at least one to my hoard.

I feel like over the past year or so, we've had such a glut of wood-covered examples with keyhole shields that some began feeling fatigued with them. Not an exhaustive list by any stretch, but the 88 DIW and 72 Che Chen come to mind - meanwhile, no hot dogs to be seen!

Spare a thought for us that haven’t been able to get a single keyhole shield knife my friend!

Earth stone paper laminate
Could you please explain to non-native English speaker what is the meaning of the word Earth in that particular context? Does it refer to laminate's initial color, or to it's origin... I can't figure really.

I believe it speaks to its sustainability and eco-friendliness, as it doesn't require the harvesting of new trees for its manufacture.

No, I cannot. As I stated in a subsequent post this is 2nd hand information.

Do not forget that the full description is "agate earth stone paper laminate blue".
There are blue agate deposits in the United States near (relatively speaking) GEC. My guess is that earth means the 3rd rock from the sun. But I don't know.

Wow, if that stone paper is made from agate stone then I say it is more than interesting material to have a knife with, regardless of it not being a classic one for use on handles.

I believe it is recycled paper and resin with some dye added. Not sure how richlite is different.
My understanding is, if it's a laminate, then it should mean layers of stone paper (never heard of it's existence before honestly, not that name at least) as sheets, not shredded, glued together with something similarly as linen layers in micarta. So, basically, a stone paper micarta?..

Richlite is used for some Martin guitar fretboards in place of ebony!!
It is a paper/resin laminate using dyed Forest Stewardship Council certified paper, and a thermosetting resin! It is also used for skateboard ramp surfaces, and countertops!!
