By the same token, what is stag? If stag is a durable material that resembles the antlers of a deer, then we can call Staglon real stag. LolI don't think that it is a fair equivalent to compare "actual" cut-with-a-saw sawcut jigging vs CNC sawcut jigging to real stag vs imitation stag.
It may be more fair to compare natural grown-from-a-deer stag to grown-in-a-lab (a la Impossible Meat™) stag, if we ever developed such a thing. In that case, and as long as it has all the same properties as grown-from-a-deer stag, I couldn't care as the result is a greater availability of high-quality stag for me.
What is a saw? They come in many distinct shapes, sizes, and functions. Chainsaws, bow saws, metal saws, wood saws, hand saws, circular saws, etc. I think the argument could be made that a saw is a typically toothed (unless you're taking about tile saws...) tool used for separating material. In that case, a CNC machine could very well fit within that broad definition of a saw.
While I understand that some folks may prefer deeper or more shallow jigging, or that some may prefer a more chaotic or more regular pattern, I fail to see how which tool was used to accomplish the job matters in the least.![]()
Yes, as long as they keep their style, because I love the aesthetics.will you guys still buy GECs when they become a company that only makes artisinal CNC milled
Depends on the blade length, because of the local laws.switchblade
Maybe a few.combs?
Will they grow a shield in it?It may be more fair to compare natural grown-from-a-deer stag to grown-in-a-lab (a la Impossible Meat™) stag, if we ever developed such a thing. How nice of you to ask, why yes I did. LolYes, as long as they keep their style, because I love the aesthetics.

CVamberbonehead By the way, have you got that splinter out of your finger yet?
That isn't by the same token, as all of the types of saws I mentioned are, in fact, saws and a CNC machine can certainly perform sawing operations if you install the appropriate tooling - in contrast, stag is not "a durable material that resembles the antlers of a deer" it is, in fact, the antlers of a deer.By the same token, what is stag? If stag is a durable material that resembles the antlers of a deer, then we can call Staglon real stag. Lol
If you can dream it!Will they grow a shield in it?
I hope they keep it up for at least half of knives they come out with. I’ve carried a slipjoint my entire life and only found out about GEC a year ago. I now have 10 of them and the recent runs are the only thing helping to stop the financial hemorrhaging. The question is... will you guys still buy GECs when they become a company that only makes artisinal CNC milled switchblade combs? Lol
Never heard of a bandsaw? They are bandsaw cut. Ya, that's it.He uses a bow!? That seems like cheating.
My preference for sawcut is very shallow, like the BF 21, and it MUST have a slight curve. I've seen a few knives by other makers with sawcut that was straight lines, and it looked weird to me.
Please pardon the non-sawcut 97 in this pic, it's the only shot I have handy that shows the sawcut on the BF 21.

I think the covers look amazing and absolutely love both of these models. I just think they look more like one of their other creative jigs, cowhide for example, than like an actual saw artifacts, and that's fine. It would be a shame to never see the other methods come back from time to time, though. Those people gnashing their teeth in despair at the atrocity saw cut to be found on the new Tractor Green Barlows or Richlite can kindly send me theirs-if it's so bad and fauxThat green is a great colour and Sheepfoot a magic blade shape.
The saw cut looks really decent to my jaded eye, it will get nicely worn in in time-provided it ever gets out of its tube other than for photo ops..... I applaud use of new materials too and methods. Bring on some adventurous new Acylics please! Perhaps the bolsters should all be hammered out by hand for authenticity and no electric drills or saws please, just worn out make do and mend tools that great-grandfather would've been ashamed of? Check out the gaps... Real traditional![]()
The irony is that when the 2022 77s were made the complaint was that the saw marks were inadequate. When folks commented on sawcut referred to the process they were shouted down or dismissed. I'm sure there were more than a few calls to the factory complaining (they don't want to talk to you) about the inadequate sawcut. Well, they listened and made the marks more sawcutty. Now yall gripping that they weren't cut with a saw.![]()

I heard they used the comb from the UJ to do the jigging on the single-blade 15s...The UJ sure gets a lot of hate but I have to say they are much much easier to get than the single blade 15’s and if you don’t ever open the comb than it’s basically a single 15 right!?
