Lets talk GEC!

That might be my next step. I used it on some creamy cheese, cut up an apple, and then peeled some orange peels for cocktail hour, then did about 20 minutes in apple cider vinegar. Thought that would do a pretty good job, but it’s just a fainter etch.

Such a nice knife though I know the etch will fade.

I boil vinegar for two minutes in the microwave. But first, make sure you clean it very well with rubbing alcohol (or fingerprints will show.) Dip in vinegar until desired darkness. Neutralize with water. If you don’t like the look, you can always rub it off.

How can we call it sawcut when it's *not*. It's CNC'd, great if you like it but it's milled, not sawn. It doesn't look remotely sawcut to my eye. I run a tablesaw quite a bit and have seen plenty of rough sawcuts. Sawcut style? Imitation sawcut?

I also run a table saw quite a bit, along with many other saws and share your observations.

I am also a semanticist, and support your concerns.

I will give the name some more thought.

... Milled sawcut?

Hmm... possibly more to follow.

I’m still hunting for a green but I’ll get a brown richlite posted soon
If your still hunting for a green what are my chances, you are one of the better hunters around,I have witnessed the many trophies you tracked and slayed lol.go get em.

To follow the GEC naming convention it would be sawcut jigged. But i guess all sawcut is a type of jigging so that brings us full circle.

The pull feels like a five to me, and they both have good snap. The fit and finish is spot on. Overall I’m happy with both. I prefer the Richlite over the Tractor Green, so I’m letting Mrs. Crappie have the Tractor Green.
I'll take all three :D Your Mrs has a very nice knife coming to her, if she fails to bond with it, I'll drive it away for her:cool:

Very good pin finish on those examples, top drawer!

Thanks, Will

You seem pretty on the ball for getting in some trophy knives (that also get used ) What are my chances?? At least you just have a land border to cross whereas I have some damn ocean and half of Europeo_O:D

Are you telling me that this Grizzly cut bone was NOT done by a bear? o_O

You're sowing doubt in my mind Sir - I have a #74 Stallion in Cougar Clawed Bone...

So, I asked a random 6-year-old about the whole question, and this is what he came up with:

'Bone' or 'Stag' or 'Ebony' etc are materials, while terms such as 'Sawcut', 'Grizzly Cut', 'Cougar Clawed' etc are descriptors

I agree, it's difficult.

'Sawcut', 'Grizzly Cut', 'Cougar Clawed' etc are descriptors
Descriptors in turn are divided to visual execution descriptors like 'Grizzly Cut', 'Tractor Green', 'Goldenrod' etc. and physical execution descriptors like 'burnt (stag)', 'jigged', 'sawcut' etc. In accordance to latest news, we have a dilemma if the term 'sawcut' still belongs to the physical execution descriptors category, or will it from now on refer only to a visual execution of a handle material used.
