Lets talk GEC!

The remainder of the knives I picked up at the rendezvous. The knives are great, the people were better.

A great group of knives you picked up this weekend. That Sambar Stag 29 has some great color in the scales. The Giraffe bone 39s look awesome too!

Wow -- fantastic pick-ups!!! 😍

That red stag 29 is really something -- just beautiful! Was it stashed away in the vault somewhere?

Plus, single blade spey? Who lost what bet?

I'll elaborate. The spey blade, tolerated on the trapper and obligatory on a stockman, almost always improves a knife by its absence. Who wants just a spey??
You're right. For all the negative comments I see about spey blades on stockman, folks go gaga for a single spey on a jack. I'm the complete opposite.

That Giraffe Bone.... Long way above everything else :D Would love to see more of it used, really special:cool:

given the runs coming, this seemed like a bit of a cop out to me for a rendezvous knife. giraffe bone or not. Of course its Bill's choice and he didnt ask me.

Back to the single spey 39 run. Bill was inspired by a vintage Cattaraugus single spey on a curved jack frame that he was recently shown. He examined the knife and told the gentleman to show the knife to Randy. A month or so later we have a run of 39s with single spey and trapper configurations.

historically the rendezvous knife is not the pattern thats currently running. its usually something several runs prior. Arent the northfields 39s about to start? who knows, two rendezvous knife options is a game changer tho

The only rules I am aware of are that it's a secret, it's a special cover, and it's only available at the rendezvous. Everything else is open to Bill. I mean "historically " before last year there was only one patterned offered. Regardless why is it a cop out if it's a current run?

I had a couple conversations with folks that have a rendezvous knife collection that feel conflict with the 2 knife offering the past two years because it makes a complete set more difficult to complete. I thought that was an interesting point of view. My own interests were helped because it made more knives available.

thats my conclusion as well on both takes. for me historically i never cared for the rendezvous knife because of that. this time its two options that i find interesting, so itll be interesting to see going forward. this wouldve been one id have tried for both interestingly. usually the sfas were the prize, which this year seemed like id have had lined up again and again. so i guess my wallet is happy i didnt go 😂
