Lets talk GEC!

It was confusing. I replied to the initial email and did not get a response either, but I did receive two subsequent emails; one that the reserve process and abruptly ended, and one that the knives were live (with enough time to score one after some frustration with their poor checkout process).
I never got either of those. I presume because by that time, they'd allowed people to purchase multiples, so they were probably gone in an instant. But hey, as I said, it's ok. I am just not going to spend a dime with KC ever again. No need to rant and rave, just vote with my dollars. And hey, all's well that ends well. I have more money for BLADE this coming weekend!

Plus, single blade spey? Who lost what bet?

I'll elaborate. The spey blade, tolerated on the trapper and obligatory on a stockman, almost always improves a knife by its absence. Who wants just a spey??

I replied to the SFO drop reserve email within about ten minutes of receiving the email (which I fully expected to be much too late). I didn't receive a reply to that email, so I sent a second the next day asking if I had missed out. They said that they had a crazy number of replies to the reserve email and had to close it down almost instantly. I went back and checked my spam box and I found that four hours before I sent my second email, they had actually already emailed and update. You may want to check your spam/promotion folders. In that email they also announced what date/time they would be dropping the SFO on their website. They also announced it on their Instagram page and story.

Interestingly, I actually found this drop to be the easiest to acquire for me this year. I wasn't expecting to be fast enough to get one, so I pretty leisurely looked through the knives until I found one I liked. I didn't finish checking out until four minutes after the drop had started. 🤷‍♂️

The knife is nice. Super great pull. Fairly firm. I really love the etch, which isn't something I often find myself saying. The shield is great. Super unique! I would have preferred a different blade shape, but that's ok. I like the curl on the one I received, but I kind of found most of the maple to be a little lackluster to be honest.

You did get a nicely figured one. I got the very same email, as well as the email alerting me to the noon drop time like I usually do from TKC.

Curiously, havent been following the releases closely this year, but is it me or a lot of patterns had brass liners this year?

I have to check my Hotmail junk mail daily, because I find 1-3 legitimate emails in the junk mail every day, but hardly any spam ever makes it into my inbox by accident. I whitelist all the legit emails I find in my junk mail at the level of the webmail server, and blacklist all the spams.

Turning bulls into steers, skinning and makes a good butter knife.
🤠
Just goes to show a pocket knife buyer can convince themselves of anything.

But I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum, it's perfectly OK to to like the single spey version of the 39, it's just that the 2 blade version is so much better.

normally i'd agree with you, but this is one of those odd occasions even im interested because its 2 full blades.

I am not generally a fan of the spey blade on a small pocket knife but it has more to do with aesthetics than anything and on a multi-blade pattern like a stockman, I'll simply never use it. That said, anyone who has skinned an animal knows the value in that kind of blade and I could very much see the larger folding hunter/trapper types utilizing that shape quite well.

I haven't used a pocket knife in any of the skinning I've done, save for the one time I used a modern folder on an elk, but if the opportunity presents itself I might try to use one of my 2-blade 73s one of these days. It would be a fun and enlightening experience.

I might not like the general lines of this blade type but this one of Charlie's is a handsome piece. (old pic)

For those that want to discuss/discredit the buying process there are a few threads in other subforums, that are more dedicated to purchasing goods.
It can be annoying not to get every, or any, drop and, as many as you like, but it is just a knife and you will still manage to make it through the day without it :)
