Lets talk GEC!

Today I made a trip to Titusville and had a fun visit to the GEC factory. I saw lots of purple bone 81s being finished. They looked great!

Joan was very helpful in the store and patient with my perusal of the knives. I left with three knives, a sheath for my H20 and the Tidioute Cutlery book.

I saw Randy on the production floor and had a chance to meet Bill and say hello and 'thanks for all the great work.'

I also learned what some of you may have already known-- they are no longer giving guided factory tours at GEC.

I probably would have still planned the trip, had I known... But I have to say that I was disappointed to not get a guided tour. We did a self-guided tour, but would have liked to ask more questions.

Overall it was a fun visit to Northwestern Pennsylvania.

waynorth waynorth Charlie, I was wearing my OIL THE JOINTS hat yesterday for my factory visit. Joan asked me "Is that one of Charlie's hats?"

I told her yes and that you and Bill have a great thing going. Waynorth is easily my favorite GEC made brand.
Nice to see word is getting around!! 😂 😂
P.S. The factory store is a place of wonders!! ;)

I wrote in the 32 and 78 threads about the store model cocobolo knives I bought.

I also got a first quality 47 harvester in textured micarta. I really prefer all steel and nickel silver construction to brass. The all steel 47 is awesome. I love the rat tail bolsters on this knife too. This was a model I talked myself out of buying last year, a long with the purple bone viper I didn't buy.

very cool and tremendous self restraint, its like a candy store in there, hard to hold back. i know it is for me, especially during rendezvous time, but there are limits to purchasing during those visits

While not all-steel, this stag 47 from 2016 is a great knife by GEC!! Of course, traditional pruners mostly have wood or Stag handles!! ;)

Yeah, I definitely had to exercise some restraint and indeed I felt the rush of a kid in a candy store!

Looks like some dealers got the 81 Boss Bull Keepers in stock…for about 5 minutes

Oh for the good old days when GEC could get some pretty nice Stag my friend . This is one you handled once Charlie . We even had a Choice between Natural Stag and Burnt Stag . Natural Stag was sometimes Serialized too .
