Lets talk GEC!

By all means, keep the pic!!
I don't think that button came with a knife, but I do remember acquiring it at a Rendezvous!! Don't remember the circumstances or the year!!??šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
Thank you, I’ve added this one to my list to order soon. Can’t have a GEC collection without an accompanying pin and tube collection šŸ˜†

I think recently it has been made hidden so its not one you will find likely. it stands for great eastern cutlery club, some of our members here are moderators, so im sure theyll be glad to help out. we do have some members from the uk in there as well, so if they see this, they may be able to help ya out as well, if you are in slipjoint collectors uk. theres a lot of overlap.
Thank you, Slipjoint Collectors U.K. is another one that hides from me I think.
I’ve found and ā€œjoinedā€ British Slip Joint Pocket Knife Group?

On the topic of 15s vs 39s I find the 15 benefits greatly when it’s in its Barlow form whereas that nice n slight curve of the 39 makes it just perfect as it is.

What’s everyone’s opinion on the 39? It seems to be very similar to the 15 which is extremely popular. Would be a great platform to do some single clips on in the future.
Here’s a side by side with the 15 boys knife (top).

Not my favorite blade shape but I think the knife was a win. It’s in that sweet spot size-wise, very popular 2 blade combo, classic ageless handle material, and the action is perfect. The action is that unseen factor I’m always wondering about and until you have knife in hand you just don’t know if it’s a keeper. I’d say this one is right there with the 77/78/93 and noticeably stronger than my 15. Demand was a little light for the 39, I scooped up a second while I could. Best of that run for sure.

Nice color on the 78!

Thanks, stumbled into that one a few years ago. Some patterns I just love and those single 78 spears are on the list. I keep picking them up as I can. Think I’m 3 short now.
I have 3 single blades and a 2 blade cocobolo. It’s very dark now.
The ironwood is my favorite. I think some of the singles were SFOs but I can’t recall

yes indeed, quite a few of the singles were sfos, knifeswapper knifeswapper was even nice enough to let 100 of his go to the slipjoint uk club. ironically, out of all the 78 singles i accumulated, i kept the one that cost me the most, cause it had to go over the pond, then come back over the pond 🤣

Are the UK ones serialized? I’ve seen some that looked like Mike’s with serials.

The Ironwood #782117 was an SFO as well - for Dale Stoops at The Knife Connection - 100 (not serialised) - it's my favourite #78 and I was very fortunate to get it from a collector back in 2021.

Absolutely, not sure how I glossed over that one. Here’s my sambar stag, i have maybe 4 knives with nice antler handles. This is one of them.
