Indeed it is. When I was a kid we got milk from a farmer. When his milk cows ate hedge apples the milk was awful

Hedge apple is Osage Orange. Slightly more innocuous.

Edit: I was thinking road apple, when i read horse apple. Hahahaha.

Hedge apple and horse apple are the same thing. Just different name from different parts of the country. Fruit of the Osage Orange tree

By factory milk I meant milk from cows who never go outside to graze, but just live at indoor facilities where they basically just stand and eat.
