It doesn't appear "swirly" enough for malachite, but I'm no expert either!! Nice stone regardless!!Great question, Charlie, and keen eye as usual! My grandmother and grandfather lived in Arizona for many years before they passed. Grandpa was an avid rockhound and amateur jeweler. This was one of his many random polished stones that he left behind. I always loved this green one so I keep it on my desk with other random objects. I assumed malachite, but it could be variscite. I do not know if he found it or bought it or traded for it. I do not know what it is for certain.
