Lets talk GEC!

I only carried it a couple of times, in a leather slip. Could it be that chemicals in leather caused the discoloration?
My assumption is the dyes absorbed into the rest of the bone. All the 68’s from this run with this bone dye faded, you’ll see some that are completely white. I had one that spent its whole life in the tube and it still fadded. It wouldn’t have just vanished, and mine didn’t rub off, so I think it just pulled the dye out over time and spread through the porous bone and appears to have been faded but really it just absorbed evenly. My two cents.

Continuing the White Owl fade to pale, this was taken back in October. Since then it's been on a table in the living-room but no direct sun yet it is much lighter on the exposed mark side.

Interestingly enough, this 56 from 2011 that has similar twisted barley-sugar style jigging (sort of Winterbottom ridged) has retained its colour perfectly despite extensive use. I think back then GEC still had the jigging and dyeing done out of house for some editions? Could be mistaken, but not on the dye strength.

Just saw the new schedule with #35 Moose, checked the pics...

...and remembered about my White Owl of the same bone style and color. I took it out to tote and was I astonished to find it discolored heavily! Here's pictures of then:

I like it gives it a real old feel.
