Lets talk GEC!

i got a question about gec's maroon linen micarta. i recently managed to score one on the bay, a #48 single blade, and the micarta's kinda dark, does it wear red? every time i google, it brings me to pictures of sold examples on bladeforums where its much redder? if that makes sense.

I'm only guessing but it might be just the lighting used in the photo. I have a maroon micarta knife from a custom maker and it looks almost black in certain lighting conditions. Looks deep red in others. The true color is actually somewhere in between.

thanks! id have liked to have gotten the ebony wood but the micartas just as dark

Anyone have any idea when a new batch of #85s will be in production again? Not sure when the initially ran, but really like Mike's with the match strike pull and EO.

o why o why wont you do more single blade models gec :(

They Just did a single blade 1865 Ben Hogan, a single blade 73 Scout Slip Joint and a single blade 73 Scout Liner Lock, a single blade 83 Lock Back, a single blade 63 Fish Tail. And a Distributor just finished a run of 77 Medium Barlow Single Blades in 5 ? different handle options.

:jawdrop: GEC should use that jigging, color and shield way more often!!!!!!! What is it called?!?!?!

The 65 Ben Hogan Burnt Orange scale and shield were made exclusively for the Rendezvous 2015. They also had some in different colors. Shield is nice huh! I managed to get a few of them.

I'm with you and feel like a lot of people are too. I'm hoping they see that and do another run soon.

They really need to make more use of that jigging pattern. Really nice.

Not to mention the new 25s coming out that are single blade. Not sure where the complaint about lack of single-blade options comes from. They make plenty of them.

Mrknife - GEC does not have a massive production capacity. You've only been interested in traditionals for a few months. They don't crank out thousands of knives in multiple patterns every month. You just have to learn to be patient.

Take this with a grain of salt, because I don't know for sure..

I would think it might be awhile.. short term they have Yankee Jacks, Northwoods SFO, 25 barlow, viper, sodbuster, talon...

I was thinking it would at least be next year. If I ever see them up on the exchange they are gone within a minute of posting.

They, 85's, are in the pipeline for probably early next year. Never heard anything about Talons. Of course the only thing at GEC that is carved in stone is "Nothing is carved in stone"
