Lets talk GEC!

No I was talking about the overall quality of the knife and the fact I like their stainless. True, its mirror polish has orange peel aspects but it's bright enough and those squirrel&acorn etches are most kool:cool::D:thumbup:

I agree Will... but I quoted MrKnife (or thought I did:o) but the quotes didn't come through for some reason.

I'd love to see another run of the Pembertons myself. I missed out on those the first time around.

I never carried my #06s but I do kinda miss the #06 Ebony I let go. I wouldn't mind a second chance at one.

Me too John but especially the single-blade (do that in a grainy micarta and it could look GIANT:D:thumbup:)

Gimme a long-pull single-blade Ben Hogan spear, jigged bone, end capped, and make it in stainless. Be-all, end-all of food prep knives.

If we're starting a wish list..........
Peanut. With a punch..

PunchNut!

Woodrow,

The #71 isn't a lockback, and it looks much thicker than a Mudbug to me. You kinda need to get the Mudbug in your hand to appreciate the feel of it.

But I like bigger knives. Just not thicker.

Ah, thought you were talking about the level of fit and finish... typically, Northfield would be a polished blade finish while Tidioute would be satin. GEC's 440C is closer to a polished 'very fine orange peel' finish to me. It's not as flat a polish but not satin either.

I was, i thought both are too nice too use. a gec in 440c i wouldnt mind too much using

Hopefully the next #48s they make will be a big clip single blade in 440C. I really hope they make big clip jacks in that run too. They haven't made those yet. I'd like some American Walnut, Elk, and maybe some micarta and jigged bone in an interesting color. I don't believe GEC had made a jack in 440C. They've made single blades, 2 full blades, pen knives, and stock knives but I don't believe I've seen a jack yet.

I regret not picking one up. The single blade ones just seemed really neat.
I think I let mine go because I had #25s in that range and I'd probably carry a #33 over a #06 or #25 about 99% of the time anyway. It did look cool though.

thats right! 48 in big clip 440c, 77 single clip with end cap too :D

Interesting. I wonder how a caplifter would fit in a peanut frame?

It would need to be a bit smaller than the caplifter on the Beer Scouts..... Maybe something like the combination caplifter on the 58mm Victorinox Caddy Plus.

Jake, was it you who had the idea to do a Sowbelly with a caplifter and call it a Beerbelly? Anyways, it's a great idea!
