Lets talk GEC!

Just got a couple new #74s in the mail yesterday, Tan Linen Micarta and Spalted Ebony. Both have nice fit and finish, walk and talk. Decent pull, both around a 6.5, and snappy. The wood has some interesting color variation/streaks, but I don’t know that I see any actual spalting. It also has a very strong chemical smell, like the smell inside a tire shop. Might be from the epoxy used to fill in a few small voids in the wood, but I’m not sure.

How do the tips sit in yours? Mine is borderline proud, like level with the frame, maybe a hair under. Doesn’t catch my finger unless I try which of course I do because I’m a neurotic knife guy. I think it’s just the nature of the blade shape and pattern, just curious how other ones out there are. Great looking knives though!

Random question sorry if it’s been asked recently but is there any chance we’re getting a 2025 blade forums knife? Also here are some pictures of random knives enjoy. 😁

It will be interesting to see how the current 54 run compares to the 2014 run. I think 2014 was the last time we saw the 54 pattern? I picked this 2014 model up back when GEC knives sat on dealers’ shelves for months. Slanted, lined, pinched bolster with long pulls on a full sized spear and full sized clip blades. I have no desire to chase one of the new ones with this beauty in hand.
