Lets talk GEC!

Is my computer not working right or has GEC's website been the same cover all week? Anyone know anything? I like the profile of the 12's. When I've seen them from other companies they were smaller. I was surprised by the scale of this knife from then pic in hand.

They're taking a week off as a holiday for all their employees Brandon. Gonna be like that for a while. I personally really enjoy when even a smaller outfit like GEC takes care of it's family so well.

Thanks Tim. That's great. I wish we would move in that direction as a nation. It's annoying to me when big companies work through holidays. Thanks for the update.

So true. When i was a kid no business was open on a Sunday except the occasional gas station and these only sold gas & oil back then. It was rude to even speak of anything business related. It was a day in which all things "business" or related to it, no longer existed. This was observed by all, church goers and non-church goers.
This gave you a wonderful sense of freedom and peace. A day in which one could just be and experience being. You were not to do anything that resembled 'work' of any kind, even cutting the grass. This really did 'recharge' one's batteries.
If such a day could be practiced nation wide once a week i bet everybody would feel more relaxed and there would be less conflict between people. And, we could play with our knives guilt free, no sense of 'wasting' time.

I remember the Sunday thing. Also businesses closed on Thursday at noon. And it did make for a nice atmosphere.

Let's get back to knives guys. Your discussion on the old days would be a great topic for the Lounge.

O.K. Since GEC is taking a holiday, i thought we could take a little 'holiday' from knife posts.
Back to work now.

On those days the stores closed so did our hardware stoes. The original Schrade was common. Saw very few Case. Kind of odd for a rural area? Of course Buck really hit it off in the 60's.

OK I'm done.

Does anyone know of a line of GEC bullnose being made without the "f&f" on the the pivot and the tang stamp being different ?

Cool thanks. Thought I just got burnt on "bay"
Anything of special note about them ? The fit and finish seem to be on par with my other ones.

I'm not an expert on the Bullnose, but someone will be along soon.... if not, post in the sodbuster thread and you will get an answer.

First rule of sodbuster thread is "don't talk about sodbuster thread". First rule of BF is "there is alreadya thread for everything".:)

They are from the first run of black bullnoses produced by GEC. The very first run of Bullnoses were all orange, then they moved to black derin. All these models had a plain pivot with no markings like the Redneck and Farm and Field versions have. The fit and finish is close to the same as latter production, with exception to the pivot pin. The first run they were not as fit in the handle, you could see some gaps around the pivot. As they made more of them they have tightened that up. No function problems from that minor cosmetic issue, still great knives.
