Lets talk GEC!

Let's just see if the actual cost gets past on to us or if the price stays the same because of inflation. I personally can't think of any traditional knife with stag that doesn't have a shield that I like. At least non stand out. But like everything, when the final product is presented for sale, I either like it enough to buy or not. All the drawings and talk in the world can change for better or worse once the finish product pictures come around. Time and sales will sort this out.

That right there is a fantastic way to say what I was trying to say. Buck recently made the decision to move some production offshore in order to hit a price point. From what I understand they're bringing it all back. I guess it didn't work out the way that they'd hoped.

By "recently made the decision to move production off shore", you mean "some dozen years ago". And they made the decision to bring a bunch of it back some 5 years ago.

yes, indeed, i think someone has shown a knife with a shield that looks like a cool chess piece!

My favorite shield! And NOBODY uses it anymore! :(

Depends on the shield and knife I suppose. No big loss with their standard UN-X-LD shield.

But certain shields, like the one on the 2014 knife, enhance the overall appearance.

^^ I like this one a lot. Here's another one that I like a lot...red stag with their acorn shield...

Would that be considered a Corset Shield Jake? I've seen it used on sowbellys..GEC has used it on the 25 and Mike/CKO is about to use it on his next run of 85's~

I'm not sure if it's a variation or a completely different shield. I think the shield they used on the 25 is similar to the one used by Queen (photo below). It's also a classic shield that was used on old knives... sowbellies and other patterns. I like it and hope they use it more often. I haven't seen a modern example of the exact same shield that was used on the old Remington sowbellies (except for custom knives)

Thank you, R8shell.

New York Knife Co Hammer Brand used both shields. I've seen the larger "corset" shield on their sowbellies, bartender knives, and other patterns. Here are a couple catalog examples of each type.

I'd also love to see their crest shield on some knives with stag covers! They could use it more frequently on jigged bone also.

I agree Jake, the simple bar and crest shield are some nice one's that we have not seen much at all. A portruding bar shield would be quite nice on some jigged and stag as kamagong mentioned above

Hope you do get one of the 85's. I was very happy when Mike decided to use that one instead of a variation for his SFO of the one's used on 85's in previous runs.

I got my name down for two single 85s but they were both for standby several weeks ago. What do you think the odds are that I get one or that mike decides to up the run due to confirmed orders. 😉

It's the inner cut. It's like soup bone, but from stag. They looked really unique, really wish I'd have picked one up at the rendezvous.

ah i see, so it was a special special release then? been doing some browsing on the bay and all i see is this ridiculously over priced TC single clip, which although gorgeous, a tremendous rip off. shame i found out about the rendezvous too late, this year

It wasn't a full run, correct. Yeah, they can get pretty high. Collector secondary market. They were at the 2014 rendezvous, I believe. This year Charlie had some soup bone TCs.
