Lets talk GEC!

Wine Scout Knife! :D Similar to the Beer Scout, but with a corkscrew instead of a cap lifter.

Oops...I think I led us off topic. I was talking about GEC limiting Northwoods runs and starting mentioning what other manufacturers KSF might be alluding to. 😊

Sorry, my bad! I didn't read all of the prior posts.... :o Probably should before I stick my foot in my mouth again!

Foot in the mouth is an acquired taste. I usually get a chance to sample mine at least once or twice a day! 😀

When I first got interested in GEC, I didn't follow the forum much and I missed out on a lot of the barlows. When I finally did take notice of them, I missed one run of them that I really wished I hadn't. I am not willing to pay the insanely inflated prices, so I still don't have the Stews Blade in red sawcut. I'm also not very quick on the exchange, and that's not going to change. I've found other avenues to try to acquire what I want. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. As for the painstaking work.... Yes, I did a lot of research, asked a few questions here and there and finally got what I wanted.

To the newbies, the info is already all right here in front of you. You just need to take a little time and dig into the threads here, and dig into GEC's website. It really is right in front of your face. You just need to work for it a little!

Just to clarify, I'm no "newbie". I simply get tired of SFO's and the frenzy that most get wrapped up in in trying to acquire some of these limited pieces, in this case the 14 and 15 Barlows. I don't find enjoyment in camping on my computer to be there when a few come up for sale and I don't care to pay the ridiculous secondary market prices. That's simply my choice. I respect the fact that some people do enjoy this. I'm not a sore looser, I simply don't enjoy purchasing knives this way so I don't. Period.

GEC can do whatever they like. There's certainly no argument that it's working for them. Some of us however would simply like to see them concentrate more on a regular line of knives and less on SFO's, but that's their business. We can spend our money where and how we want. It's all just simple economics.

Mad Trapper, it's been stated many times in this thread and others that GEC is going to start limiting SFO's to concentrate more on their own patterns. So your wish is coming true.

Back to the barrels!!!

Regarding the barrel pic, I'm guessing wood handles like Boker's beer barrel models. But what kind? Oak from Tennessee whiskey? Wine barrels? How cool would the coloration be in wine-stained wood!

that looks like a new barrel guys.. I doubt theyd buy a new barrel to break down for stock. just buy the same wood used.
