The small gap you see is normal for this run. Not an issue and this can be seen on some other GEC and other brand lockback models.
Like Barry said, that's normal. They are all that way now. GEC made a change to their locking springs. No issues at all.
My 38 Northfield Whittler came with blade rub marks which only have gotten worse
Bravo!!! Very nice. Some things just get better with age:

Welcome aboard! What other companies are you more happy with? I'd certainly be interested if you know of another production company that does better. Please pm me info if so.WTF do all you people work for GEC ? I have now bought 13 of their knives in the last 18 months and no less than 6 should have been discounted factory seconds, living in Canada sending them back is a big expense and hassle. Pissed off in Calgary
You should post pictures.I have watched every Rob Apostle P traditional video And factory tour videos, I've been following GEC for 3 years my my 92 Autumn Gold is a brilliant knife. My stag/elk covers is where gec has problems, My Two Elk 74s both have significant gaps at the bolsters My 38 Northfield Whittler came with blade rub marks which only have gotten worse 38 Orchard Gem secondary blade has no walk/talk. I just received a Beagle 18 stag that is so inconsistent in thickness it should never have left the factory. My Norfolk main blade came with blade rub.
Beautiful picture!
I'd be happy to relieve you of the problem.

I'm right there with you. I love my green 83 and can't see needing more knife but dang that blackwood drooooooool!I know I'd never carry such a big knife but part of me is super tempted to pick up one of those OD 72s to go with my 83. Seems like they would be such a pretty pair.
