Lets talk GEC!

Kind of regret passing on the last run of 74's . Hope the new run has a lanyard hole. Looking forward to the bone choices

Didn't want to start a new thread over a question that hopefully can be answered simply, but does anyone know if GEC will install a lanyard hole on a fixed blade by request? I was looking at some H-60's and H-10's , and not that it would be a deal breaker, just thought they would be perfect for pocket carry for me with a lanyard. Pocket is preferred carry currently, with an eagle eyed wife and a thieven' little 2 year old running around. ;) (light of my life)...and it is safer from wandering little hands, who think daddy always has neat "stuff " in his pockets. If anyone knows , thanks aforetime.
Thanks, Neal

Neal, I understand the 2 yr old curiosity well. I would shoot GEC an email asking if they will. If not, there are several here on the forum that you can contact.

Yah, good point KBA. Thought maybe GEC might be better initially, but yeah there are probably plenty of modders who could do a nice job of it.
Thanks, Neal

I don't think GEC do that kind of work Neal, try Glennbad, he has a good reputation here

The 74 mustangs with clip blade are up.

These are the Muskrat Clip, also called a Turkish Clip. Something we haven't seen on this pattern yet. Also, just considering how GEC has made their knives in the past, if we haven't seen a lanyard hole on it yet, we probably won't this time around either. Of course, there's always a slight possibility. These look like a standard run so I wouldn't worry too much about reserving one. Sometimes it's nice to get a look at the knife first, but I suppose YMMV.

I am pleased to see some variety (office knife) and some popular pattern runs from GEC. I admit I was quite vocal a few months back about the lack of standard patterns like the 72 and so forth in stores, but GEC has really filled that niche well and there are plenty of them about now.

Now I find that between GEC production and some trading on these forums, my knife drawer is full of those common patterns and I am keen to explore more interesting knives. I kind of wish we would see short runs like the old days I have heard about on these forums. I like the imagination and whimsy some of these odd ball patterns show. Can we have it both ways please GEC?

I would call the 2012 run of 74 saddle trappers a muskrat clip. I'd assume it'd be the same or very similar. Hope so, because it'd be a great single blade configuration.

Aha! You are right! The 8 does designate the muskrat clip. I guess that's what we're probably going to see. I wish it would have end caps. GEC has been very stingy with those this year.

Ok, I got kind of a weird thing happening. I have a 77 barlow with the new pinchable clip in micarta. When the knife is hasn't been handled and is cool to the touch, say early in the morning, the blade is dang near centered when closed. After I pocket the knife for a few hours and the steel warms up in my pocket it has a very noticeable lean to one side.

I thought I was going crazy at first and tested my sightings over several days. Sure enough, when the knife is cool it has an almost centered blade. When the knife warms up, the blade 'wanders' to one side.

is there a fix for that? back in the paper and tube I suppose :D

I think the fix is just use it and never look at the blade centering again haha..that stuff doesnt bother me anyways as long as its tight and not rubbing anywhere

Yeah, it doesn't bother me. I love this knife!

I just never have noticed it before, on any knife, and it threw me off. At first I was freaking out because I thought I had shifted the blade somehow and the next the morning it was back to center.
