Lets talk GEC!

Great Ed. I'm sure glad you like it. It came out very nice!

Thanks Alan [emoji106] I've actually given my Blade forum knife a break and have been carrying and using it since I received it .Came pretty sharp but gave it some love on my leather strop and green compound and it's hair popping now . Really enjoying it !

All this Green Talk has set me slobbering. Meako's picture and AT's caused me to remember that I too have a Tractor Green 48, No.12 or 13 I think. It's an interesting bone, kind of like a Barley Sugar sweet or a type of Winterbottom. I believe I heard that GEC will be doing a re-run of 48s. It's very nice in single blade, a good alternative to the CASE Slimline Trapper, slightly smaller. Better made of course.

Awww man. That really does look good. The size/shape isn't bad at all, but it's more the color and style of jigging that I like. No idea why. Just personal aesthetic preference. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a similar style jigged bone when GEC does their next run of 48s. Seems to me a long, slender, curvy knife like that needs & long curvy jigging. :)

My collection of GEC # 15.

Been meaning to say how much I like this photo. I love the red/orange/brown color scheme; it's like autumn in knife format & the bright orange one makes me drool every time I see it. Really nice collection.

In much the same way as Cougar or Bear clawed bone resembles those effects -The tractor bone resembles wheel ruts from a tractor?

I thankfully ran across those factory tour videos when I first started thinking about buying a traditional pocket knife. I've watched them 2 times over again now. They helped steer me towards GEC. I really enjoy the great American manufacturing process they employ.

Here is a radio interview I found. Hopefully some people who haven't heard it yet can enjoy. I know I really did. It was very informative and interesting. It seems to be from a local Titusville radio station. I'm pretty sure that it is the owners son Will. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you very much for your appreciation. :)

Shock, thanks for posting that video. It was both entertaining & informative. I live in PA & I've often thought about visiting the GEC & Queen factories, but just haven't gotten around to it. This Summer maybe.

Such a beautiful combo. Both GEC. Both natural canvas micarta. Both 1095 carbon steel.

The 77 Barlow has that nice strong pull that you want in a hard use knife. Amazing steel construction, and the awesome spear/coping blade combo. I love that big beautiful engraved bolster.

The locking Mudbug has a perfectly easy pull. Just enough tension to keep the blade firmly closed. Not even a hint of blade play in any direction. And the Mudbug got a nice big swedge this year! Perfectly pinchable too.

Both are absolute workhorses.

I believe that is the case. I'd personally love to see "kitten scratched" or "dog chewed" jigging. Maybe "chipmunk nibbled" with the acorn shield. The possibilities are really endless, and I'm being biased toward northern hemisphere animals.* "Wallaby walloped" maybe? I'm not sure what action verb to use with koalas. Do they do anything besides sleep? I have to stop now...

*I am aware that dogs and cats do exist in the Southern Hemisphere.

Great knives and shot Buzz. I have hoped for a 71 lockback for sometime now.

I got the GEC bug. Received my first off the exchange about a week ago and now look what happened.

I have GEC-itis as well. I think a lot of folks around here do. It would appear that you've got a fairly acute case - impressive haul for a week. Great knives. I like your Cougar Clawed 74. It looks to have that marled, Appaloosa bone look to it. How do you like it?
