Lets talk GEC!

I was expecting it to be like others I've seen where it's a paper thin sheet of abalone with clear acrylic on both sides. This abalone seems thicker with mostly abalone on the back of the covers.

I think what you are seeing as a thick layer of abalone is instead a black liner.

I was just looking over the production numbers from 2015-2016. GEC made a total of 1,535 #25's during 2015. They made a total of 3,832 #14's during 2016. Not sure why, but I just found it interesting that they made so many of the 14's in comparison to the 25's.

They also really ramped up Beer Scout production. In 2015 they made 1,192 Beer Scouts. In 2016 they made 2,477 Beer Scouts, plus 1,410 Cap Lifters.

I wish they would include the total knife production for each year.

I think this was right about the time they started making alot more of each run, and consequently, less patterns. Right after the 25's and before the 14's.

Checked out the GEC tease page today, looks like the Northfield 66 acrylic is gonna be tortoise shell!

I hope it gets a sweet shield to go with that.

I have a couple of tortoise shell GEC's and they are really nice. I have a 66 acrylic on reserve so another tortoise shell is ok but I was hoping for something more colorful.

I'm beginning to think that GEC is afraid of change and getting way too conservative.

I think the 66 will be a great pattern for tortoise shell, but like you I was hoping for a little more color.. Although it looks great on my 33 conductor..

You can easily figure it out with a little work.

1. Open up the Production Totals Page.
2. Right click on the page and save it as a PDF.
3. Open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader (unless it's already open in that app). It's a free download if you don't have it already.
4. Hold down the "ALT" key while highlighting a column. Holding down the "ALT" key allows you to copy the individual column without copying the other columns. Make sure that when you copy the numbers you only highlight the numbers and not the text in that column ("PCS."). Also, you can only highlight the columns in a single page. So you have to go page by page.
5. Copy (CTRL-C) the highlighted text.
6. Paste (CTRL-V) the text into a spreadsheet. I use Microsoft Excel. Make sure you don't have any text like "PCS." in the Numbers column. Only numbers are allowed.
7. Use the AutoSum feature to total the numbers column.

Using this method I get a total of 23756 knives for 2016.

Would this be the thread for info on any Northwoods releases? Or a link, please. Thanks
