Lets talk GEC!

I wish when GEC did make stainless knives they'd pick something with more universal appeal. The last two available stainless models I've seen are the Navy knife and Mako. I'm not interested in either. I'd like to see a #12, #13, #22, #47 (Viper or Hay'n Helper), #61, #66, #72 in stainless ...there are many patterns I'm interested in.

They did do a run of #15's in 440C last year. They went so incredibly fast, I think they made all of 10 of them. :(

But yeah, they're few and far between, and often seem to be done with unpopular models.

Many of those have run in 440c before. Definitely the 12s, 47s, 61s and 72s. Definitely not the 13 because it was a first run this year (except for a prior forum knife). I don't recall any of those little 22 gunstocks being stainless either. The 66 is what taxes my memory though. I know there are stainless 68s, but I can't recall ever seeing a 66 with an acorn on it. 66 goes back so many years though, to a time they were doing 440c more regularly. I'm sure someone will be along and know.

If anything I would say they are now doing them with more purpose. The Navy knife and Makos (at least the fish scaler version) were built with an eye towards water use. Maybe reflects a change in philosophy of only using it where GEC feels it should be used, whereas they used to seem to want to offer it as an option on various runs. I don't think there is any conscious effort to use it on unpopular models.

If I recall, they also did a run of 74 Mustangs last year around June or so.

They should of just gone all out and added partial serrations and a glass breaker

I know they went fast, but I'm not sure its fair to say they only made 10..:) More like 400 each of two of the most desirable patterns they have.

Mike's early reserve listing for the Calf Pen Jack made me smile.

"The most versatile knife of 2017!"

"Price: Anybody's guess"

:D

Although I don't think this knife will be for me, I am, I admit, curious to see the real thing. Heck, if the price is right, I might even have to check one out in person.

Edited to add: I missed the phrase "Cowboy Swiss Army Knife" from Mike's text alert until just now. :D

I'm definitely in for the nifebrite, and probably the black linen too.

t.willy is right, I bet the production numbers will not be huge on these. Get em while you can!

I will give GEC credit for doing something different (at least I don't think this has been done before...maybe for good reason). I have to agree it kind of has a "puppy monkey baby" thing going on, but maybe they are onto something.

I'm not committing to anything now, but the production photos may sway me to give it a shot.
