Lets talk GEC!

I notice that Mike doesn't have any #77 on his early reserve, although he does have the #71. Is it possible this run is for a "knife group" and not for general sale?

Uggghhh, flippers.

If I get to order #77s, I’ll be happy. I really like the 77 frame and ignored the 78s, because of the upcoming 77s (not implying I knew, just figured). I will admit, like many out here, I had to look away several times from the 78s. I’m trying to only get knives I will keep from here on out.

Enjoy the day!

Repost from the #77 thread... :D

You and me both!

I may "need" several of these 77s, depending on which wood they're going to pick. And what the heck does elderberry camel bone look like?

The finished product looks good to me. How do you like the Bird Dog etch?

As I am predominately a user rather than a collector at this point (subject to change any time), I have not found etches to be all that appealing as they soon disappear with use. That being said, I do like the artistry that goes into etches and I find many to be rather attractive, especially ones that are paired specifically with a pattern.

I like the Bird Dog etch, it is unique and fun.

Since the 78 and 77 frames are pretty darn close to being the same, I think the 77 is going to appeal to me immensely. I find the 15 frame to be a bit small in its single blade configuration and the 78 in its 2 blade configuration is a bit much. However, the single blade 78 is absolutely perfect and I suspect that the 77 will appeal to me in the same way.

I haven't expended a lot of effort trying to acquire the #15 TC Barlows because the single blade versions are very thin and petite and whenever I carry and use one, I always find myself thinking that there is something lacking. Perhaps a 2 blade TC would please me more. But a 77 NF Barlow could very well be the icing on the cake for me. Especially in that red saw cut...

I wonder if the elderberry camel bone will be of a similar hue to the elderberry jigged bone that the recent 78s came with. Kind of a dark purplish red?

I’m guessing Mike may send an email or text to those signed up stating a “drop” date for the early reserve of the 77 Barlow’s. I believe the last TC drop crashed his new system due to the high volume of folks trying to reserve them.

Exciting 2018 for GEC fans and it’s only January.

Gives me motivation to work OT. Lol

Did GEC ever make any knives with more than 4 blades? I have a couple #61 4 blade congress knives but I think everything else is 3 blades or less. I have seen a few knives around that are big ole 6 blade knives , and was just wondering if the 4 blade congress was their max on multiblade knives.
Would anyone else be interested in seeing a big ole 6 blade GEC?? Like a gunboat Canoe or a 6 blade Trapper? Just wondering. Maybe I started in on the beer a bit too early today.....:oops:.

Travman Travman I knew you were gonna love this one. I admire bird dogs and enjoy your posts with yours. Every time I see a pic of you in the yard with your K9s, I have to take mine out as well.

I hunted birds when I was younger - I used Standard Poodles. I love retrievers.

Pàdruig Pàdruig I too like a knife @ 3.75 over 3.5 inches. I too love the letters TC on a Barlow, however, the #15 is not my favorite frame. I liked the 78s, but I like the 79 better. I should be happy I know what I like, but that’s just not the case. More waffling and conflicting thoughts on knives I don’t really need... though, I sure do want. I held out for these 77s. The spear point is my least favorite blade shape, but that isn’t to mean I don’t like it.
