Lets talk GEC!

The finished product looks good to me. How do you like the Bird Dog etch?

I like the finished look of that acrylic. The etch looks good, but a little cramped on that blade, I think.

I wonder if the elderberry camel bone will be of a similar hue to the elderberry jigged bone that the recent 78s came with. Kind of a dark purplish red?

I'll be surprised if the color comes out as dark on the camel bone as it did on the standard bone.

I find the acrylics often to be attractive and I find no fault with durability. They will scratch like delrin but polish up with no trouble if need be. Not found any warp or shrink at all, on the contrary in many ways it seems more durable than bone as it won't chip. Nor does it seem to develop centre pin cracks like bone often will

I've tried to polish mine without much success. Would you mind detailing your method?

That's true, I haven't seen cracks. I'll take some pictures of mine.

L.H.S. What I use is a leather strop with some green compound. Works well on other scales too notably bone which can get dull & matte. However, I never keep my pocket knife with keys or coins, it has the pocket to itself so my wear may not be heavy.

Thanks, Will

I do the same but then since I’m cheap and don’t want to get another strop I color on a small piece of paper towel with the white compound and polish it up with that as a final step. It’s got a finer grit to it and gets rid of any haze that may be left on, say, the nickel silver bolsters.

What is the consensus on the jigged bone version of the 56?

I am not crazy about the color as I've stated before. However, the finished product is usually a different animal and that shield really does set it off nicely. If it were a hotdog shield, I would probably not give it a second glance. But there is something very, very striking about that shield...

My first Mudbug. Now I understand the hype. It is quite an impressive knife, and it even has a tight lockup!

Nice score, Leslie! I've been wanting to try the Mudbugs for quite some time and was planning on trying to land one with this recent run. However, I just acquired a Bull Buster and I find that particular need somewhat sated.

An impressive knife, no doubt.

Leslie, you sure have the new knives rolling in! That looks like a useful one. Get some work on it, pronto!

I am looking for a spot to get off this ride, but this has been an exceptional run of knives, with a few more to come I am afraid. They required full payment at the time of ordering the Mudbug, so at least that is a past pain already suffered.

shadowram shadowram , It is the dark natural linen micarta. I hoped that it would look like 2015's paper micarta version, and it seems that it does. This is my first micarta knife. Now, I can understand why everyone likes that material so much.

Pàdruig Pàdruig , That is a great looking knife Dylan. I almost selected the maroon Mudbug. You and I seem to have similar taste in knives.

Thanks for the compliments.

Leslie, the pain is all over it's enjoyment from here on in. Just a thought, I carry mine in the nicely broken in Mudbug sheath. It disappears out of the way until it's needed. Frees up pocket space and keeps the lint out of the mechanism.:)

Nice. I managed to oder one today in the online release somehow, also in the dark linen.
I have a 2008 bear claw 23 I love, but it has sentimental value and I'm hoping this will be a good replacement to carry more often.
