Lets talk GEC!

Mmhm don't think I fancy that Mardi Gras too much, admittedly unpolished blocks but it's got a toy-shop look about it:D:eek:

I hopefully have one of these Mustard Jigged bone versions reserved. I'm happy with the look from this picture.

These Smooth Appalo0sa Bone versions look promising. It looks like the long pull also has the match striker look.

I wasn't thrilled about the Appaloosa Bone at first, but these look sweet! The federal shield, the lined AND pinched bolsters, and the long match strike pull, I think I am going to really like this knife. I do like the darker coloring of the bone shown in that picture.

I was able to get one of the Mustard Yellow Tidioutes, hopefully I have one of these reserved as well.

^^ The 2 blade is listed as canvas micarta, so that single should be the same. I’m kind of partial to single blades, but thought I’d give the 2 blade a try on this one.

Thanks a lot for pointing those details out Pàdruig Pàdruig . Now I want one of those too! o_O That Appaloosa is a beauty.

Oregon, yup. I downloaded the picture to post here and it was automatically named Oregon on my phone in my downloads.

On the GEC website under 2007 production totals there are listings for #10 , #50 , and #60. What are those , or what do they look like??

Saw on the production schedule the OKCA knife is a beaver shield 43. That there cartoon feller is wearing a beaver hat...

The Natural Canvas Micarta has really grown on me. Just about everything GEC has put it on looks great!

As for the Mardi Gras acrylic, I kinda like it. It reminds me of these glass candies that my best friend's mom had on their coffee table when we were growing up.

I believe that'd be a coonskin cap, not beaver. :D

Received this S&S Mudbug yesterday.

As with a good percentage of lockback knives made by GEC, the lockback mechanism on this knife is difficult to release. It'll get better in time but it's not a feature GEC does well. One of our BF Dealers said that he'd never had trouble with any of GEC's lockback knives. I flat out don't believe him. I have maybe 15 lockback knives by GEC and probably one-third of them have spotty release mechanisms. You'd think after all this time that GEC would have solved their lockback mechanism malady but it appears that it's not to be.

Oh, I darkened the blade and oiled it to prep it for later use.

My 72 from GEC is a total mess in that regard. Blade play in every direction, and yet it still takes full and forceful depression to make the lock disengage. What's so odd is, the knife has fewer gaps than my Buck knife, which LOOKS quite sloppy by comparison, but the Buck locks up solid and releases easily.
