Lets talk GEC!

I think, but am not sure, that they're going to sand it and send it back. If not I'll definitely try one of those. I know my girlfriend has one of those. I've actually wondered about using it to polish acrylic! So that would work to bring back the shine on acrylic knives?

That’d be great if they sanded and sent it back. I’d be curious to know if they ran through multiple grits or jumped straight to a “Super Shine” or similar product.

I’ve only damaged one knife to the point of repair so I’m no expert, but in theory I think the “Super Shine” would definitely polish acrylic. When I started the repair it was really ugly and I was concerned. It was completely cloudy and I was sure it was going to be a total eyesore. After running through the four steps and focusing on the buff and shine it was crystal clear allowing the Amber dye underneath to shine through nicely.

Some time later I sold the knife with full disclosure of the repair. The buyer sent me an email upon receipt and was really happy with how clean and natural it had turned out. We’re it not for the extremely fine peach seed jigging you’d almost not have been able to tell it didn’t come from the factory that way.

Keep us posted

I noticed that my favourite knife shop has taken Great Eastern Cutlery in their selection. I prefer to order from them for their excellent service. I'm interested in Northfield American Jack #78 two blade in either brown jigged bone or stag. Any opinions about these? The price difference compared to Tidioute American Jack is not great.

Edit: just noticed there is a whole thread about #78. Looks like a great knife! I really should get one.

The Northfields are typically only 10-15 dollars more than the Tidioute. They have fancier bolsters, swedges and cover materials as a rule, not a big difference. Just a matter of how much "bling" you prefer on your knives. Of course, the stag is more expensive than any other cover. Good stag is getting more and more rare.

I have one of the 2 bladed 78's with the brown jigged bone . I can recommend it very highly .

Updated gunstocks seem to be the same pattern with a brass bolster - is this right?
Ooh, I love it! Not only do I like brass and wood generally, but having the brass on the bullet knife makes it look like it's made of rifle stock and shell casings. Really enhances the whole gun motif. I'm not much of a gun guy, but if you're gonna make a silly pattern like a gunstock with a bullet on it, leaning into the cheesy aesthetic is the way to go.

I kinda wish they were putting a matchstriker pull on it, too.

I would definitely be in on a clip blade 14, I love my 15 radio jack but sometimes something smaller and slimmer in the pocket is nice if you arent wearing jeans.

I would only consider a two blade if the secondary was a coping or similar.
