Lets talk GEC!

Hey, GEC, how about something similar to this?? Great combination of blades. The nick on that clip could be improved, but that would be child's play. Think about it over some beers.

Not too far off from the current 77 run!

Have you tried the hot clean dishwashing water in the sink open and closing technique yet?
It always works on my old 15 scout when the action gets sluggy.
Of course dry thoroughly and oil after.

Well it's not really that the action is sluggish, it's acting like there is something that's hitting between the tang and back spring. It'll stop the rotation in its tracks, and takes considerable force to move the blade between closed to fully open, as well as open to closed. It's weird as hell.

I haven't tried the WD40 yet, but that's what I'll be trying next. This problem made me appreciate how easily my other knives can be taken down and cleaned, haha.

New 15's?!! My god that is great news!! I don't have access to preorders as I am on the other side of the oceans..

Can anyone tell me the full specs?(popcornsmiley)

I agree, Eureka Jacks would be great! Though I must admit, I have been wanting to add more lambsfoots to my collection and GEC version would be awesome.

I concur, good idea. But I'm a bit sceptical that GEC as an American company dedicated to American knives would actually make a foreign pattern using a blade unfamiliar to most American cutlers? Can't see them doing a Laguiole, even if the Turkish Clip blade is familiar. A Lambfoot might happen but only if an SFO were put proposed, even then I suspect they would not do it.

I'm with ya, Will. I don't quite understand it.
But, like other things in life, it might help who you know..;)

edit: I will pick up a GEC lambfoot tribute to George Mallory's knife, for sure!:)

Shoot a message to @knifeswapper (CollectorKnives). He may know someone that can help you out.

If GEC were to produce an American Lambsfoot Knife I'm not sure I'd be able to compose myself........
While I don't think they could dedicate a variation specifically to George Mallory legally speaking without some very serious permissions, I will say that the jigged bone Lambsfoot knife which he carried is a beautiful knife and a modern rendition of any resemblance produced by GEC would be something extraordinary.

I was thinking...

I know all of us would love GEC to make more knives of pretty much every variety and pattern, but of course GEC is only so big with so many employees, and they can only make so many knives at a time.

BUT...

I'd really like to see a more steady production of the Farm and Field knives. Especially in O-1 steel. These are working knives, meant to be use hard for every day tasks that you wouldn't want to use your pretty Northfield UN-X-LD in African blackwood for. They're not really meant to be collected, at least in my opinion. But with sporadic production of the F&F knives they fall in to the same collectors' market that all the other models do, and knives like my 47 in Nifebrite that cost $60 and is tarnished and scratched is suddenly worth more than I paid for, and would command at least double the original price if it were still new. And meanwhile the people that don't have one and want one have to either pay out the nose or wait for a new run, whenever that may or may not come. I'd love to get a Nifebrite 99, but I don't want to pay $150 on the off chance that one ever becomes available on eBay. It's just crazy to pay collector prices for a working man's knife.

Aaron, maybe that's what the Calf Pen Jack is meant to be! The Farm and Field Tool that never goes out of stock, haha.

The larger runs GEC has done lately certainly do seem to be lingering on dealers shelves a bit longer. It will be interesting to see 2017's production numbers.

It’s definitely time for another run of Eureka Jacks.

Definitely. In my quest to find the ebony single blade spear I've come to appreciate just how limited the original production was. The ebony is perhaps the simplest variant of all, yet it took me over a year to find one. And although it looks new, it was actually used and carried by the first owner. That's because there were only 50 made and that was nearly 4 years ago. The fancy Northfields are even rarer. Last one I saw on eBay was a beautiful barehead stag and it went for over $300.

Like I said above, everybody wants more of everything, but it's definitely time for a new run of 92s.

Yes, please. While they're at it, come up with a cool stamping for the blades. Anything less just wouldn't be the same. All steel of course.

If GEC is going to do a run of 15s anyway..... can we get some beer scouts with a clip or spear blade please?

I think you'd be more likely to get one with a spearpoint, since that's what they're doing this run, but I doubt it's going to happen.
