Lets talk GEC!

This became my "most often carried" knife in February. I just haven't had the opportunity to take a photo in sunlight until today...

I thought the Churchills would make a perfect user (and I do prefer the blades over the #79 a little) but I really prefer the sleeveboard pattern. I already had an ebony NF, but it's too fancy for me to rough up. I put it out there that I longed for the Blue Jigged Tidioute version, but pretty much gave up on it.

Then came along @Methuselah who talked to NJBillK NJBillK who ultimately found @paulhilborn who was very generous in making his available to me. Thank you very much!

It has been in my pocket probably 80% of the time since then, and has been serving me very well. I'd love to see another run of these, although I won't be replacing this one.

Sabercat Sabercat is that a #26 pattern?

Looks sweet!

Glad to see it getting some pocket time. I hope it is serving you well.

If I had one, and I could cut a nail nick, this is the mod I would do to it...

It is nice as it stands, but I love a clip...
I like clips over spears too, and really prefer the Churchill's larger sheepfoot, but the 79's sheepfoot is certainly functional, and the spear actually works for me on this one. Something I can't say about all spear bladed knives - aesthetically speaking.

I would also like more Stainless from GEC. My most carried knife is a Elk SS #74 Mustang.

But I am also excited for Charlie's run of Ancient TCs.

Very nice examples both. But I think only a very select few will be given a look-in where 'The Ancient' is concerned.

Still waiting on a stainless GEC jack... 1 long blade, 1 short blade like a pen or coping etc, pivoting at the same end. GEC has yet, to my knowledge, make one under their brand. The only one that I know they did make was in 2009 for Cripple Creek, a spey blade main #73 with a pen secondary.

I like clips over spears too...

I like spears over clips ... but ... I just picked up a Presidential on the exchange and found the spear to be a bit in the way when using the wharncliffe. It's not a show stopper, but I found myself wishing it was a clip like the Churchill. Too funny.

Personally, I'm tired of the 15 pattern. It's been made every year for the past 6 years. I guess it has become GEC's bell cow, but it's leading me to disinterest in the pattern.:)

It's been 8 years since we've seen

7 years since we've seen these:

5 years since the 33 Whittler
and this one...

It's time to see these again... sooner rather than later. I'm hopeful. ;)

I'd be in on any of those except the #55, not super into another dog leg.

Bill was carrying an #89 in stag I believe when I first took a tour of the factory. That's how I heard of it.

I'd definitely like to have one in stag, preferably elk and stainless.

Less 15's... MORE 89's!!!!

Incredible collection!!!

Love those stainless ones.

My "user" Elk 89. The only GEC I have two of in same model/handle material. I also have a red jigged one as well.

I would love to see more of these. Both Bill and William Jr have expressed to me how much they love the #89. Bill mentioned that they didn't sell as well as he would have liked so he wasn't sure when another run would happen. I suggested that a lot has changed since 2012, and perhaps they would do better now. Here's hoping...

Incredible!!! I'll have to try to do some more convincing next time I'm at the factory. More elk and stainless 89s would be incredible!

I feel like a forums old timer saying this (I’m not) but a year or two ago we started asking GEC to make some more stainless, and to stop eccentric patterns and produce some of their most popular choices for those who missed out. We got some stainless 15s, the 48s, 73s, another run of beerscouts and a massive run of TC barlows (other popular stuff as well). Useful to keep in mind that GEC takes notice, but also that the big runs were due to customer requests.

I remember that also. That's why I don't really have any complaints about these runs.

There are a lot of knives I've had and sold and wish I hadn't sold from GEC that are now very difficult to find. So I would definitely appreciate reruns of various patterns also.

What a great knife! So light, sturdy, great snap, and thin grind. Wish I'd kept mine o_O

Anybody recall a specific thread for the ancient TC's? I've tried searching and didn't come up with anything... Thank you.

There was a wonderful thread about all the TCs. It covered all the releases, history, etc. BUT Photo Bucket (HP) ruined the thread when they redid their picture posting requirements or whatever they did to mess things up. Hundreds of pictures were deleted from the thread. The guy that started the thread and managed it was John Slider. You might do a search for his threads and find it. (Jon_Slider)
