Lets talk GEC!

There was a wonderful thread about all the TCs. It covered all the releases, history, etc. BUT Photo Bucket (HP) ruined the thread when they redid their picture posting requirements or whatever they did to mess things up. Hundreds of pictures were deleted from the thread. The guy that started the thread and managed it was John Slider. You might do a search for his threads and find it. (JonSlider)

Thank you! I found it.

With the recent spear v. clip mention, one distributor had posted a "coming soon" for the an SFO #14 clip in black canvas micarta. Even if it's a little beyond the distant production schedule, I can't help but feel a little giddy. I discovered GEC shortly after the first run of #14s. Missed out on the awesome SFO's but was lucky enough to snag a few of the more standard covers. Two years later, with my tastes dialed in some... to be around for the whole #14 run... !!!

So its for sure this new run of #15 spear point boys knives will be a nail nick and not a long pull? where do you all figure that?
the pictures of the SFO #15 for Maher & Grosh on GEC's website are long pull and swedged spear points, wouldnt it make sense to keep the same tooling in place for the regular 15s right after those?

Where are you finding the pictures of the M&G 15?

Why did everyone think they'll be Nick's? I missed that, because yes, it would make sense to keep trucking with the same tooling.

I read a while back on here where it was just agreed it would be a nick, I also missed the reason behind it...

EDIT: was a post from gunstockjack, says it looks like they will be crecent nail nicks. Mar 12, 2018#11370

Wonder about the clip? Surely they'll do the long pull yeah?

Edited my last post above, but yeah if they do one in a certain way I'm sure they would keep it the same for the rest of that run to keep it uniform?
and on that note, like you said earlier, it would make sense to keep the tooling as similar from one to the other to keep production flowing.

Just want to say that the photos of the Whaler have me pumped.
Gives me hope for the return of some other patterns that I otherwise assumed we'd seen the last of.

Yep there definitely is going to be a #14 clip TC Barlow. I would never say that if I was just speculating. Let's just say I have it on good authority :)

Thanks t.willy! I’m going to have to start saving now. Great year for Barlow fans.
