Lets talk GEC!

Personally, I'm tired of the 15 pattern. It's been made every year for the past 6 years. I guess it has become GEC's bell cow, but it's leading me to disinterest in the pattern.:)

It's been 8 years since we've seen

7 years since we've seen these:

5 years since the 33 Whittler

It's time to see these again... sooner rather than later. I'm hopeful. ;)

I am totally with you on this! The only reason I’m getting one of the 15’s this time around is because the Maher & Grosh version looks like a piece of history.

I have that same 55 and I paid a pretty penny for it!!! I love those! The 56 is nice, but the crisp half stops on the 55’s are amazing.

I also have a small collection of the 89’s... the whittler along with the spears and clips. Somehow I don’t imagine those will ever be made again.

The 33’s were quite popular if I recall correctly. That and the 62 are actually two patterns I don’t have.

Another for the wishlist is the 79. Another run with these in a clip main, coping secondary would probably sell really well.

Sorry for the crummy photo!

I'd like to add the #68 to this list as well.

I couldn’t agree more with you guys. I enjoy the SFO TC Barlow’s because I like the story behind them and they hold their trade value well.

But I would love to see these older patterns return soon especially the whittlers.

I’ve spent the last four months seeking older release whittlers for my collection. As you know they are hard to come by, but they sure are special.

I’m glad to hear all your thoughts on what patterns you’d like to see and for all the pics.

Man, those are 89’s are pretty!n

My "user" Elk 89. The only GEC I have two of in same model/handle material. I also have a red jigged one as well.

I would love to see more of these. Both Bill and William Jr have expressed to me how much they love the #89. Bill mentioned that they didn't sell as well as he would have liked so he wasn't sure when another run would happen. I suggested that a lot has changed since 2012, and perhaps they would do better now. Here's hoping...

i wish GEC would stop doing the marathon 15 runs..... how about bringing back the 57?!

At least GEC has gotten over their #15 sheepsfoot fascination. For a while, besides SFO's and sprint runs, the sheepsfoot was all we could get. We had the beautiful two-blade boys knife sheepsfoot run in 2015, as well as a navy knife run, and the first run of sheepsfoot beer scouts. Then 2016 brought us another run of sheepsfoot beer scouts, and another run of navy knives. 2017 got us the sheepsfoot forum knife.

I'm just happy that they decided on a blade other than the sheepsfoot. I've got sheepsfeet on top of my sheepsfeet, supported by more sheepsfeet. I like sheepsfoot blades and all, but it got a positively overwhelming.

That Elk is beautiful. I have the Red Jigged one. One of my favorites. I agree; we are due for some more 89's :)

Glad to see all the love for the 89. I figured it wasn’t a great seller originally. Jrawk, nice collection there!

This 89 in smooth calico bone was my first and probably my favorite. The 99 is another favorite as well.... heck, most of my collection is my favorite. :D

Word :cool::thumbsup:

The 15 obsession could lead to a sudden collapse in interest, it goes on and on, yet no Wharncliffe version and 2 years ago we saw the last stainless run. Last stainless knife from GEC for that matter:rolleyes: You don't have to keep pumping out a pattern all the time just because it's popular, it can have the very reverse effect too. Just now we have another Bullnose release just 12 months after the last one. Nothing at at wrong with either of these patterns but I've had enough of them for now. I'd love one of those Easy Pocket Congress knives in that Raisin Jig Bone they offered:cool: I missed the boat on that one, pity.

68 White Owl is a great idea and the 33 Conductor, plus some more Eureka/Viper and above all else a NEW PATTERN please ;) Swell Centre Whittler, Coffin Jack, Swell End, Serp Pen??? There's more too:D The 38 was a brilliant pattern and could still be offered with new configurations.

Love those 38’s Will! I passed up the clip version for whatever reason and now I totally regret it. I had a line on the Neptune acrylic even. :( I think my favorite 38 was the Northwoods wharncliffe version.

It would be great if GEC broke up their runs a bit with different blade choices. Like maybe half clip mains and half spear mains on the 44’s?

How often did they run stainless in the past? It seemed like at least once a year?

I wish they’d made some jacks during this year’s 77 run. Here’s my Pine green for a few years ago.

Looks good, Buzz! I have that same knife, as well as the Northfield jigged bone from the same run. I also wish they would do some more #77 Yankee Jacks, though I wonder if they didn't because they just did the #78 American Jacks (which are, admittedly, fairly similar other than the square-vs-rounded bolsters). Maybe it's just the lighting, but your Pine Green looks like more of a brownish-green than mine. I actually like that a lot; I feel like mine has more of a "faded pea green" thing going on at the corners.

Yes. The color on mine is quite different from yours. It’s hard to believe they’re from the same run. Mine is more of a brownish green. Sort of a ......... swamp algae green.

I so agree with everyone about wanting some of the older patterns. The easy pocket knives would probably sell like a fresh batch of Soupbone TC Barlows. Not to mention the #38 Whittler:eek:o_O:D:thumbsup:
