Lets talk GEC!

Indeed Halfneck :)

I am really digging the Northfield pics rolling out on GEC's sight. The swedge looks great with that cali-clip, the mammoth ones are not to shabby either :D

Mine also came jet black. This could be the one!

Got to work tomorrow, but on Saturday the GEC Booth is a top priority at the BLADE show. There are a few I need to check out in-hand before I think about buying. Granted the big group of enablers here have not steered me wrong on a purchase yet. :)

Well, online tracking told me the ebony arrived a few hours after the grey pearl, so I went to the post office to pick it up.
I am, to say the least, pleased. Hard to tell if I prefer this to the 68 White Owl yet. They are very close. But the ebony on this one is blacker than my Owl. I love how dark it is.
Kudos, GEC.

It is very pretty. The biggest difference I have noticed between the Owl and the Slim is the blade grind. On mine the blade of the slim is very noticeably thinner than on 68. It is really thin and it really cuts. That and the fact that this is a California clip makes me believe this may be an outstanding fishing and hunting knife.

Thanks for that tidbit of info. I've been curious about how the two would compare. Fan of the owl, but love that California clip on the 66.

I had been asked that a few day ago and called the factory to confirm. Response was affirmative and I updated my Early Reserve schedule.

#21 Farm & Field Bull Buster – Drop Point blade – 4 5/8” long closed - O1 Steel
#21 F/F Orange Delrin
#21 F/F Black Delrin
#21 F/F Nifebrite Acrylic
#21 F/F OD Green Linen Micarta
#21 F/F Maroon Linen Micarta

Good thing I don't make a habit of collecting the big sodbusters, or I'd be going broke with those releases! I do think I'll pick on up though:D

I'm going to buy two 2014 Forum Knives but I think that for now, I'm pretty much through buying GEC. I passed on the last SFOs from Mike and will probably pass on these SFOs too. GEC is getting old with me and it's time to move on to other brands. Of course the old saying "Never say Never" applies here but it getting more and more difficult for me to get excited about anything from GEC.

I might be a little more excited about these newer, bigger, SFOs from Mike if he offered at least one with canvas micarta.

The 21 is not a "sodbuster". Basically it is a 23 Pioneer in Farm & Field trim.

Will I couldn't agree more with your assessment. Nice and slicey, just the way I like it. Even the pen is rather thinly ground. It looks like the blade krink contributes to the overall thinness of both blades.

2014 forum Knife ... intriguing for sure!

But it is STAG, **********!

Should I get one? ... unsure...

How big is this knife? For some reason I thought it was peanut size. Just curious what kind of game you going to use it on squirrel? Always looking for a new hunting knife, still use the old one.

This is a 3 1/2 inch knife. The clip is the same length as the white owl. I'd be comfortable field dressing anything under deer sized with it. Or even a deer. I've dressed a deer in the field with a congress and this would be better than that. Not quite a mini trapper but close.

Handle certainly looks like a bigger version of the Bullnose, not the #23 in the least. Like they say, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's a duck. :D

I would expect the 21 to be a relative of the 23 about like the 71 was to the 73; thus the correlation in the numbers. Not to mention the correlation in names of Bullnose and Bullbuster. I don't guess the ink has dried yet, but I expect when it is put together it would be consensus that it looked very similar to a large sodbuster.

I suspect "sodbuster" is a trademarked name. Not to mention the GEC factory seems to avoid using standard names. Thus, it really doesn't surprise me that they would avoid that particular name or the persona that comes with it. The Bull Buster will be its own beast, but as with most GEC patterns with great names, it may end up looking a lot like a standard pattern by another name.

I do know that with the name Bull Buster, one must be very careful to clearly pronounce the name! :)
