Lets talk GEC!

Sure you can wait tell they sharpen out but you don't need to. You can definitely send them back and get versions of each knife that's as pleasing to look at as the ones you have minus the blade rap. If I was you I'd send them back. Like has been mentioned all the Dealers for GEC and GEC itself are more then willing to help you until your satisfied. Just my 2 cents worth lol. Good luck

Once you have started sharpening them yourself, the best bet is to just shoot them back to GEC and let them sharpen them down to the point they probably should have been before they left.

This is exactly what I did with my 98 cattle knife. Didn’t take them long, it was fixed and you can’t tell a difference in the amount of blade. Great customer service from GEC.

Just looking at the drawings of the 44. Rattail bolster and stamped endcap looks amazing. I hope they find their way onto the stags as well altgough the drawing says not.

A sharp GEC #14 will dispatch that fuzzy guy..... right ?? :D:p:eek::eek:
Lol you could give it a try but I remember reading a true story about some poor hunter in British Columbia who had the great misfortune of crossing the path of not just one but two Grizzly Bares. He had a 30-30 Rifle that he fired at both them but he didn't do anything but piss them off  Unbelievably he managed to live through the mauling and crawled about 4 miles to his truck he had parked just off an old logging road. Amazing just how much one can go through on determination and our God given will to live.

Currently in my backyard. This snake has been in my yard for years. He was super docile in February when he came out. Not so much today, haha. I remove all my poisonous snakes to the very back of my property. I kill them if they come back.

They’re constrictors and very aggressive, but when you know how to handle them, they pee and poop on you to detour that behavior. One of the worst smells outside of skunk. Since it was a topic today - loosely - I thought I’d share; however, I had this in pocket.

Looks like a Black Snake, they're good to have around, they supposedly keep other snakes away but will also eat chicken eggs if you have chickens so....

Yikes! You need a mongoose around the house!

40 years ago or so, my father was cutting off a rattlesnake's rattle with his pocket knife and when he was putting it away, some old timer joked about having to throw it away now, since it was "poisoned".

It’s a Rat Snake. It puffs, rattles, and swings for the park with its bite. Then there’s the pee and poop thing as it constricts. I handle all snakes and document them that are in my yard. I have a crazy Copperhead population.

All Pit Vipers can deliver a venomous bite after decapitation. Copperheads, Water Mocasins, and Rattlesnakes are all part of this genre in the US.

I love outdoor snakes, but wouldn’t ever consider one as a pet.

I love learning that other people love snakes too. I used to study to be a herpetologist before I transitioned into policy work. That’s a beautiful rat snake, and I’d love to see pics of the copperheads on your property!

I remember the first time a snake secreted on me — I thought I had stepped in dog poo. It really is an awful smell.

jblyttle jblyttle An excellent example. I sure do like the #71.

Copperberry Copperberry I won’t front. I usually only get pics when they’re dead. I keep my eye on them when they’re alive. It’s a TOO BE respected animal, as I’m sure you know. I free catch them with a stick and a bag - I do not break focus. If I could be another person AND young, I’d be a DVM. I have lots of fat 4 ft copperhead here and that rat snake is about 6ft.

He’s a neat one alright. I saw a decent size rat snake on my uncles property last week but was unable to get a picture in time. He wasn’t as big as that one though.

We have black mountain rattlers with similar color to yours, that are difficult to see particularly in shaded areas - step on it and you are dead. We had a Scotty who would root them out and notify us of their presence.

How come the #15 pattern has never been made in a Northfield edition (other than the CC Rope Knife)? I got to thinking about my new 43 and how I wouldn’t mind seeing a clip point that has a nail nick with a cut swedge, polished blade and stag on a barehead 15 of the 2 blade variety. Maybe add a double lined bolster to it...

While we’re at it, how come no other more premium handle options either? Ironwood, snakewood, primitive bone, etc...

Being such a popular pattern, one would think that Northfields would be an instant hit. Northfields appear to typically sell out faster than the Tidioutes also.... at least when I look.

Doesn't answer your question, but wanted to add that the 15 has been used for northwoods runs in premium material.

Yes, more snakewood would be fun. I go to an exotic wood store for, uh, exotic wood, and there are many durable woods that are inexpensive and beautiful that would make fine covers.
