Lets talk GEC!

They should be fine with the smooth bone on this one. GEC has certainly had plenty of practice with this bone before! I have given away some of my nicer GECs over the past few years, so this will be my new favorite "Sunday go to meetin knife!" I gotta quit giving away all my knives!!!:rolleyes:

I too am excited about Gunstock Jack's #14. It's like he read all my posts (whining) about wanting a small sleeve board pattern, with bolsters at both ends, a shield, single clip blade, with smoothe bone or micarta. It's exactly as I would have designed it myself.

I too wish I had pre-ordered two. My son is three months old tomorrow. My wife thinks I am crazy, but I am putting back new in the tube knives for him to have some day. Really hope I can pass the love for them on to him.

The pin for the spring seems quite far back. Is this normal for the 14s? Lighter pull for the "boys knife"?

The spring pin looks to me like it's in the same spot as the 2016 run. Maybe the addition of the end cap can make it seem closer to the butt end?

When the time comes to pass these down you might find he will trade you the new in the tube for the one used by you - just something to consider.

GEC’s made this 14 run a tricky one! Which to choose? I read the list and had a hard time deciding, budget is tight so just one...decided to go with the green bone from Old Towne Cutlery, not a cowboy but green’s my favourite colour. Something seems very American about an American made knife with a cowboy boot on it too. Seems like it’ll be a “Classic” knife one day when my grandkids get their hands on it.

Yep. I signed up for one. I love that cowboy boot shield! I'm not a cowboy either, but I sometimes pretend I am. :p ;)

The first three pins that I can see starting from the left side look about the same. The last pin at the bottom of the handle does appear to be moved up the handle so that it is not in the way of the end cap. I think we have seen this before on other patterns with and without end caps.
