Lets talk GEC!

Yes, the butt end pin is obviously moved up the knife, but not back. I do NOT want weaker pulls on these #14s.

Are weak pulls a common thing on GEC. I only own one and its an 81. The pull and close seem very soft compared to other brands I own.

Different models/runs come with different pull strengths. Most of the 43s are reported to have a lighter pull, mine is light but has excellent "snap". All my 15s seem to have a perfect pull (for me), somewhere between light and heavy. If you want a strong-er pull, try a 73 or a 71. Best to ask here about a particular model you might be interested in, somebody here will have it and be able to tell you about the pull strength.

This one is so darn close that you can't feel a difference. I'd call it flush.

i have a few that achieve the same or if not very close to that. i did have some that were perfect after modification, and some that the modification ruined the positioning. was curious to see the variations,

In reference to the 81’s, yes they have a light pull. Lightest of any of my GEC’s. As mentioned the members here can give advice on all their models,(I guess with the exception of new patterns waiting to be released).

In reference to my own earlier comment on having a difficult time deciding which 14 to get, there’s been a few runs lately that I would have been interested in but the covers on the particular patterns just didn’t do it for me. The 14 run just seems to have a bunch of covers that work on the knife. Should be something for most tastes. Would love to see a 14 caplifter in stainless one day though.

After looking at the production schedule, I gave up and broke out the dice.

Three rolls (one for each section).

Looks like I'm going with 2 of the following #14's:

1) Gunstock Jack's
2) C. Risner
3) DLT Trading

Fun ??? Sure, but I would have liked a TC Barlow :(:confused:

What a fantastic selection of #14's !!! :D

The Oily Creek Bone #14 is starting to appeal to me. I had one of the Oily Creek Bone #14's from the first run and I liked the coloring on it. The Old Man shield might be pretty cool too.

Anybody got access to a drawing for that knife like the drawings posted earlier of the Gunstock Jack and Olde Towne Cutlery SFO's?

I was curious about that too, Rick. To date, the only all points flush GECs I own are 3 out of my 4 Broadway Jacks. Not that it really matters in the performance of a knife.
