Lets talk GEC!

Woops didn't read that you said walk and talk was mind-blowingly good.

Can't wait to see the bullet cocobolo models!

Pull is slightly stronger on the shorter blade but tha only because it’s basically the same backspromg on both and the smaller blade has less leverage. If a 10 was a nail breaker and a 0 was a dead blade, I’d say these are an 8. Not too strong that it’s unpleasant to use, but strong indeed. Just like I like it. Snaps like an alligator.

But more importantly, WHAT THE HELL IS IN THAT KIDS HEAD JN YOUR AVATAR??? Lol! that’s hilarious!

Thanks for the pictures Lee and the video Mike ! These sure look awesome and sounds like Gec did a fabulous job . Can't wait to get mine ! Glad the pull is a little more stout on these as well !

I just always assumed that was an old school picture of you ;)

Either way, that's one of the best and most clever avatars I've ever seen.

HAHAH, Yes! Thanks! i Thought it was pretty funny when I picked it out.

Looks great! I was on the fence about these, but they do look slick!

Every time I watch Mike open his knives with the pad of his thumb I think about the time I tried to be like Mike and sliced my thumb open

I cringe every time I see him do that.

Don't try this at home -- I did, and sliced my thumb wide open!

Some things are better left to the professionals. ;)

I have always opened them the same way as knifeswapper knifeswapper .

I'm positive that opening method would cut my thumb every time, at least with the edge I typically keep on my edc's. I have to admit, though Mike, you have very attractive hands and nice nails! Or do you have a hand model?

Have a couple scars from way back when I actually did a little work; but retired them to keyboard work and picking the garden 20+ years ago.

Everybody thinks they actually can sharpen a knife that wouldn't tolerate this style, but anybody would have to have some pretty soft skin to cut themselves the way I open a knife. Matter of fact, had a professional sharpener humor me... If you have 10 minutes of your life you will never get back, you can watch the videos.

I have cut my thumb doing this twice (just a little paper cut style cut). And both times on the same model knife. But I think it is more the action of the detent breaking over abruptly on the Viper EZ Open - instead of smoothly on a backspring.

Dang, I don't have those double-jointed thumbs like yours Mike. Only the tip of my thumb touches, thus reducing the contact area and increasing the pressure impacted by the edge resulting in "Ouch". Anyway, my joints are getting so worn that I have to use a blade key on stiff knives, and am starting to appreciate lockbacks (and autos). I cut myself often enough without intentionally touching the edge! ha Appreciate the videos though!

It really has more to do with steadying your motion with your index/middle fingers on the spine/frame of the knife so you control the entire flow. But if you can't get a flush pad, I can see that being a problem. A machinist buddy of mine, had fingers of iron. He sliced his finger open working one day and I bent two cutting needles trying to get enough catgut in the finger to hold it closed - had to finish it off with superglu. I have ripped the tendons in a couple fingers enough that they don't straighten all the way, but mobility is not yet a problem (although my momma always told me popping my fingers would ruin them).

Patience LHS. Just give it more time, the key is to give them all the time it takes to get the job done right. If it takes till the end of August, then that's what it takes. I would wait till the first of September before I would try any more contact. Summers are always a busier time for GEC.
