Lets talk GEC!

As much as I just want to get a 44...I don’t know if I can. I just don’t see my wanting to carry it over other slippies. I’d probably use a Beer Scout before this knife.

They look super knife and knifeswapper knifeswapper ’s review are making it almost impossible to refuse.

Patience LHS. Just give it more time, the key is to give them all the time it takes to get the job done right. If it takes till the end of August, then that's what it takes. I would wait till the first of September before I would try any more contact. Summers are always a busier time for GEC.

edit: not a big deal

No, when they have information, they will let you know,,,,Chris is just like that. I can only tell you that when I sent my 23 in for re handling, I waited till I heard from them and acted accordingly. It only took 4 weeks. I never emailed till they did.

I guess I'll just wait till the Rendezvous.

JUST SAW THAT THEY WERE CLOSED the 4th through the 9th

So my bad. I shouldn't be so hasty.

I think it's great they give everyone a few extra days off to be with their families and celebrate freedom.

That seems like a little extreme for the #43 and #65, which are just a sharpening. I'm not so much trying to hurry them, as I will be there August 9 and 10 for the Rendezvous anyway, but wondering about the lack of returned emails. Like have they changed email addresses or anything of the like?

I don't know how they handle warranty work; so I am just speculating. But I would expect you are not waiting on "just a sharpening" - you are probably waiting on the warranty knives that were sent in ahead of yours. I had a handful of #43's that I sent back for sharpening the rap out; and I just wrote them off the books until the day they showed back up. But I do know that they pretty much let Chris handle those types of communications - and she has been in emergency rooms and hospitals for a large part of the last few months due to a rash of serious issues with her husband. And I mean, life threatening. When this type of stuff goes on, you suffer a little bit keeping track of who/when you have communicated with already. They haven't lost your knives and they are most likely waiting their time in line.

This week they did a little backwards. They worked the 4th so they could take a 4 day weekend.

Really sorry to hear that. Chris has always been extremely friendly and helpful with me.

The pin for the spring seems quite far back. Is this normal for the 14s? Lighter pull for the "boys knife"?
The spring pins on the 77’s and the 15’s are both the same distance from the front bolster they just look further back on the 15 because of it being a shorter knife. I would bet that this is the same with this knife the pin is the same distance from the blade side bolster as the other two but it is the smallest of them so proportionally looks further back. They should all have the same approximate pull with the difference being how thick the spring is and perhaps how it is ground.
The first three pins that I can see starting from the left side look about the same. The last pin at the bottom of the handle does appear to be moved up the handle so that it is not in the way of the end cap. I think we have seen this before on other patterns with and without end caps.

The pin that holds the back of the knife together is in the same place but it goes through the bolster and can’t be seen because both are nickel silver. The pin in the back that you can see is a river holding the handle material to the liner since the pin that normally does that is through the bolster.

If the current pictures up on GEC's website of the #44 in progress with the autumn gold jig bone is the same colour as the Gunstock Jack's smooth autumn gold #14 I'm even more excited for them. A Nice deep colour

Looks like I have both cover options on reserve! I got lucky! May have to slow down a bit...

Got my reserve in for one of the autumn jigged gunstocks! Never owned an actual gunstock pattern before so hoping for serious pull and action! Barry’s got me now!

I'm very excited for this pattern as well. I don't have a gunstock. Hearing from people who have the ebony already sounds like the pull, and walk and talk are amazing on these.

#44 Buffalo Jack

The clip after flushing with mineral oil is a solid strong 7 (maybe 8 -- think #71 Bullnose). The pen is a solid strong 6 after flushing. ;);)

Walk & Talk on both blades is off the charts! :D
