Lets talk GEC!

John, that ebony #68 looks REAL fine! ;):)

As far as modifying the moose, like spyderg mentioned, I went the other way with mine and turned the clip into a sheepfoot, then slimmed down the spear into more of a drop point. Nice useful blade combo, now.

I looked at chopping the clip too, but opted to turn the spear into a wharnie. I really liked the look of the clip, plus I found the spear somewhat uncomfortable. The angle of the handle works well with the new wharnie as a carver.

Okay, here is a group shot of the knives that survived the Great Purge of 2018 :) Every one of these is special and a "favorite", with exception of the spear blade #14 and #15. I'll be replacing the #14 with the upcoming run and I'll keep an eye out for a clip #15. The interesting part of all this is that I can sit back and really tell which patterns I miss. Some patterns I don't even think about, but the #48 keeps nagging at me. I sold two of them and gave one away. I'll probably add another #48 at some point, but I'm not in a hurry.

My massive GEC collection :)

You can tell which ones sit in the safe, I gave them a soft cloth to sit on while they posed for the picture :)
Nice selection. That tomato acrylic harness jack is sweet. :)

Kind of surprised that none of the keepers are of the stag variety, but then again, maybe none of the sell-offs were either.:) Are you not a fan of that handle material? I only ask because it is probably my favorite.

I sold off my GEC stag handled knives. I love to look at pictures of beautiful stag knives, but I'm not a fan of them in-hand. Without question, wood is my favorite handle material.

You mean after the big batch of #14 and the small batch of #99 announced?

The #14 batch is really important, I guess GEC will be busy for more than a month with this one...

Projection is not simple...

I don't want to miss the next EA85 and I can't wait...I've been dreaming too long about the pictures of Northfield #85 Smooth Bone.
I just saw the #99 on CK site but reservation is closed ;_; looks so great and it is a rare SS GEC. If anyone knows where I might can find one of these when to pre-order or put my name down for let me know or where to look when they release.

They are producing 300 of each cover material for 900 total. My advice would be to get in touch with one of the other retailers and see if they can add you to their list. Not many of them know how many they are getting at this point so it is difficult. There are several mailing lists available across many different BF affiliated dealers.

The #99 will apparently be available at all usual GEC dealers since it is not an SFO. If I understand correctly, it's not a big batch, so we'll have to move fast.

Edit

Wareave is much more accurate than me :-)

Upside I'm not really interested in the Elk but yeah figure I am probably SOL any idea on what the retail pricing will be on those?

I just looking for ball park so I know how badly I am getting screwed when I start looking at buying 2nd hand :p
Brother, you won't get screwed if you buy it from someone here. The 99 pattern isn't for everyone and my guess is you will find them here in the marketplace shortly after release for cost or really close to cost.

Anyone else want to see GEC do a lockback whittler? Preferably with a clip point main. I wonder if that's even a pattern they would consider. Does GEC have a set number of patterns or do they add to it when they feel like it?

Still rallying for a 440C 98 camp knife or cattle knife. Maybe in 5 years.
