Lets talk GEC!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if this run of Pembertons had coping secondaries??
Okay...NOW I'm excited. :D

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic about the cloud shield on the Northfield...this is basically the standard.
Not sarcastic :) Is the cloud shield what they had on the last run? I thought that was the keyhole? Or are they one in the same?

Did you guys notice the schedule update is through April, but no 97’s were on there?

The 06’s are going to be a neat little knife, but I’m sitting these runs out.

Personally, I’m thankful and so is my wife and wallet.....that I’m not interested in any knifes on that schedule.

I’m going to take a break and focus on trying to find a few older GEC’s that I would like to have in my collection.

I would think if you add the 97 into the mix the schedule is booked until June or July.

That doesn't seem like 4 months worth of knives on the schedule..?
I'm not sure the reason why the 97s aren't there, but in the letter they sent to dealers (and shared here somewhere) Bill said 33 business days just on the Coke Bottles. That would add about 1.5 months to the published schedule....and seems about right to me. He also said he was hoping to get them into inspection by February...so those would fall within the current schedule.

I keep thinking about the large # of 97s, and worry it's too many, but I think one of the big shows is in April, and perhaps they're planning on selling a ton there as well.

All things schedule related are subject to change. Likely a Northwoods run or two in that period also.

Yea, i'm curious as to the large number of 97's as well. I can't imagine such a large pattern is going to be that popular.

Just remember, that historically for Case, a 3000 piece order was a limited edition. Maybe GEC's fame has finally taken off. I'm surprised at how many of my knife friends still don't know about GEC.

I think the appeal of the 97’s is at least in part, is it’s a large canvas for the cover materials. I think there will be some amazing looking knives in the run.

The production numbers are based on dealer requests which are based on customer requests. Apparently, there are a lot of folks who want the 97.

The #97 has been made before by Queen in various trappings and sizes, including S&M, Maher & Grosch and Winchester. I haven’t seen them in these forums, only on the auction site. Does make you wonder.. but Bill’s instincts are often right.

Im not sure why alot of people on this forum are balking on this pattern "the #97", unless its because alot of people these days dont actually put knives to use. This knife pattern is a little on the big size but with the way this clip blade is positioned theres a huge amount of cutting power in this knife. It will be a aweome skinning knife or heavy use knife plus you dont see knives in this pattern very often anymore, so...it should appeal to actual knife users and collectors also. I for one would reserve one of each variety if i had the money especially yellow bone and ebony but since i have limited money im a sure on the yellow. But the size of it alone should excite at least "alot" of knife people cause big knives are impressive!
