Lets talk GEC!

I think they can keep all the letters. Maybe just rearrange a few to spell something like
Beer Confuse Kit?

All I can say is that the Boy Scouts better stay away from my Beer Scout or they will have to deal with this pair! The Charred Oak Beer Scout was the one that kick started my collection. Those dastardly Boy Scouts would have to pry it out of my... you know the rest.

@r8shell , I am sure you can say goodbye to the plain Scouts as well. I guess we can take some consolation in the probability that the knives we currently have will go up in value as a result of this.

I am sure GEC will come up with something new and just as interesting. Someone who seemed to have inside knowledge told me that it will be quite a while before we see 15’s again. Maybe they will use a different pattern to create a new bottle opener.

I blame Barrett...that pic made me hungry.

Wasn’t even my pic; I just took the one Will posted a few posts back. Did look tasty though, didn’t it? :D

B’COOTGA!!

While we're discussing Beer Scouts, I wonder if the plain old Scout shield will be no more, as well?

I sure hope not, I’m quite fond of those, and right now I only have one (which I acquired secondhand and a bit pre-abused).

This issue goes a long way back. BSA sued Camillus and other companies (if memory serves me) a long time ago, about use of the word “scout” on a scout pattern knife, and promptly won. Their argument was that the word scout on a knife caused confusion as to whether the knife was an official Boy Scout knife, and directly related to their organization and their own branded knives. After that, all knife companies stopped using the word “scout” on their knives, and began calling them Camp, Camper or Camp Utility knives.

Just wondering now what would happen if someone started up a company that makes readily available wooden dental hygiene products ..in Fort Worth and called it Texas Toothpicks...
And..didn't GEC make a Cody Scout Trapper a while back? what next? Buffalo Bills descendants sue GEC ? We all have to give them back? how far can this BS go? Someone makes alotta money out of this ....wish it was me.

Please don't say: "KNOCK 'EM OUT!"

Maybe it's time for 'Camp Boy Knife' to annoy and offend everybody :D:D;)

OK enough of my jesting, I think we're all pretty much in agreement, pedantic bad-call. I still say that Banner shield is very nice and would welcome it on other knives:thumbsup:

It's not too late to go to law school. Then you can belly up to the trough with ... a bunch of sharks ... who will attempt to tear you limb from limb ... while you return the favor. The survivors get to eat. I'm not sure it's worth it.

This is kinda like when Case introduced their "Sod Buster Junior". Case trademarked the two word "Sod Buster" name. Hence all other knife manufactures use the one word "Sodbuster" name.

From a business' perspective it's serious business but to a knife collector/accumulator, it's pretty silly.

The Beer Scout without the wording on the shield is nice. If I recall gunstockjack had a super nice blood wood SFO. Anybody have one of those?

I am curious as to what GEC has in the works next. Pretty much halfway done with the Pembertons, then the #97 run to go. I'd imagine in the next few weeks we'll be getting word.
