Lets talk GEC!

Yessir. Was able to hone the others to being pretty darn sharp (for my abilities.) The coping just started flaking.

I know a guy that had a heat treat problem with one of his GEC’s. This guy takes sharpening to an almost scientific level, hair whittling sharp, but no matter what he did it wouldn’t take an edge. He sent it to GEC and they told him that it was a heat treat problem, and I believe they made it right with him somehow. Might be worth asking GEC about it.

I agree with you, but we must be in the minority, as the acrylics have the lowest resale value of any of the handle materials.
Here are a few favorites:

I love the acrylics. As far as resale they may be lower compared to bone or especially a barlow but for me they are still high, insomuch as i can buy a new gec, cheaper than one of these rare beautiful acrylics. As for me they are more desirable than most other gec's from years ago

That’s a rare bird there!!!! Quite possibly my favorite acrylic GEC has ever done...... Orange Crush Perylic..... I have the 54 Moose with 2 clips dressed in that. The Perylics in general are my favorites. I have a few.... unfortunately, they’re on an old phone or photobucket ..... stay tuned this week;)

I love GEC acrylics but my main complaint is that they’re usually found on the Tidioute models and I much prefer Northfield.

I am curious as to what GEC has in the works next. Pretty much halfway done with the Pembertons, then the #97 run to go. I'd imagine in the next few weeks we'll be getting word.
Well working on 2 1/2 weeks and still no plans revealed, I'm kind of surprised. They'll be done with the Pembertons this week. Just the 97s left. Even with a possible Northwoods run of 97s, they shouldn't take but about 6 weeks. Getting jumpy over here waiting on the next early reserve text message :eek:

A few days ago, I was searching GEC’s list of authorized dealers, and forget which one listed the glass and Beer Scout together as a package.

The #6 & 15 are my favorite GEC patterns. (The Stag Jack on the #77 another favorite.)

My avatar is a single blade sheepsfoot on the #15. Making a sandwich during a month long challenge: one knife for everything. No hard use that month and it worked great.

I hope this isn't dead for GEC.

All those products are unavailable.. as others have said tsa had a package deal a couple weeks ago, but other than that anything with Beer Scout on it is gone. If I recall correctly GEC even pulled the Beer Scout pictures from their website under the patterns produced link :(

Glad I picked up a glass awhile ago. Wish I woulda got more...RIP Beer Scout Knife Club.

This post from the LOTR thread got me thinking: I wonder if GEC will ever try their hand at a hobo knife? Could be fun.
Mine is one of my most treasured pieces of gear from my trail work and landscaping days. I still use it all the time. Great fork, suitable for eating and grilling, a big knife that I keep deliberately dull, and most important: A huge, deep, full-size soup spoon.

This is a replica of a Civil War era pattern, with rosewood scales. Handle is 4.5" long.

I LOVE the 2 piece style. Yours is a great example.

TSA still had the package yesterday. Factory Second Beer Scout in golden ale jigged bone with pin and pint glass.
