Language expert Charles Harrington Elster used to appear on a Denver radio show now and then. Surprisingly interesting fella. IIRC he considered the use of 'grey' in the US to be an affectation, akin to calling your aunt 'awnt' instead of 'ant'.... ;-) Gotta say I'm jealous of all the cool acrylics that were used before GEC was on my radar! I hope it makes a comeback...
