Lets talk GEC!

Why don't they put that dumb hot dog shield to rest? 50 years from now and your legacy is gonna be the hotdog shield? Gotta be a better "standard" option than that one.

It's like a terrible never ending joke. Funny, not funny. Next thing you know they will start using other food products like a banana or hamburger and people will buy them anyway.

Yes! Time to take a break, and save pennies for one of these.

When I first saw these I was licking my chops. Then I heard it was a 3 spring and lost all interest. I am gravitating to thinner knives in general and I rarely carry the 2 spring knives I have anymore let alone the one 3 springer.

Oh... Bummer! I had not heard these were going to have 3 springs. Really?!

Im not sure why they would need to do that? Doesnt seem right but I havent heard anything about the 29 yet.

I agree. My Churchill (though I haven't carried it for awhile) is one of my favorite knives. That single spring construction is sweet! I can't imagine the reasoning behind making this 29 a 3 spring brick. Could certainly be an engineering thing, I guess.

The hotdog looks good.

If you want to read about the 3 spring - page 709....

My wife and I were at the factory last month. Spoke to Bill about the 29 and expressed how excited I was for it.

I suppose he has the right to change his mind, but as of mid-November, the plan was to make the 29 a three spring knife.

Three spring, huh? Looking at the picture, my mind went to a Whittler configuration. It's my favorite blade combination, so I'll want to give it a try anyway.

3 springs is really odd. My scout knives with a whole extra tool only have 2 springs.

But the 2-blade/punch combination just plain makes me drool. I think I'll hold off until I read some reviews before ordering. No pre-order for me on this one.

Three springs would def. be a bummer. I'll still check one out. I love the blade combination and frame shape personally.

I like the 3 spring setup myself. My M&G Yankee Whittler is a 3 spring. It allows larger blades in a more compact package. Plus lets my large hands get a better grip on a small knife.

Three thick? That's a bulky so and so...Maybe with that punch they're not wanting to krink the blades? If it is an imitation of the Winchester, might explain it.

Will be a quality knife, but like all of GEC's current run, of no interest to me whatsoever.

Regards, Will

Unfortunately no...or blade type. I am only aware of the material and blade type of one of the two SFOs scheduled for that run and I haven't been given the ok to spill those beans yet :)
What other blade could you properly fit into a toothpick pattern??

Maybe a long super slender spear, like the one from the Ben Hogans? Now THAT would be something I might be interested in.

Doubtful I'd buy one, but GEC has yet to do a proper toothpick pattern fish knife. 2-blades, slender California clip & hook remover/scaler blade.

Regardless, more #12s is good. Someone mentioned yellow rose..
