Lets talk GEC!

I also have shields that I prefer over the hot dog shield.
However, there are also some shields that I really do not care for at all.
It's a relief that the hot dog is their go-to standard to keep the offending shields limited.
The Tidioute and UN-X-LD shields are probably my favorites, I actually like the branding.
I much prefer the branding on the shields than etched on the blades. ;)

Does anyone else want to ruin more shields for me? :D

at the top of my list for boring shields would be the oval. Without branding (al la Case), it's just a smudge. A triangle would be cooler. Or even a circle!
 
I am still on the lookout for a knife with a guitar shield. My favorites are the banner and corset shields.

I've been wondering what people were talking about when they said the Northwoods shields look "different". It's nice to finally know what they were referring to but on the other hand, it's not.

What would be really cool is if GEC could make scales that different folks see as different color - like that white dress/black dress thing that made its way around the interwebs a few years ago.

That'd really mess us all up!

Nevermind, maybe camel bone causes enough ruckus around scale colors.
 
Looks like they've finished 10/14 #23's, and then on to the #33 conductors!
I'm excited to see something new coming. No offense to the venerable trapper pattern knives, they're just everywhere, and unfortunately liner locks always look clunky to me.
 
I don’t care for the Northwoods arrowhead. To me it’s just a little too big.

Not a fan of the UnXLd shield either. Cloud and hotdog are OK.

That’s probably why I’m so bummed about the SFO news. The diamond shield is good looking, and many other SFOs have had corsets, federal shields, hounds tooth, oak leaf (not my favorite but interesting nonetheless) yellow rose, etc. GEC has chosen to use some of these for their own knives but it seems like it’s always after an SFO has pioneered it. Thus lack of SFOs feels like potential lack of innovation. A few years ago, it seemed GEC did clouds, hotdogs, UnXLd, and almost nothing else.
