Let's talk Northwoods

I guess going with a micarta gives the advantage of not having to browse. Red is my favourite colour so it was a no brainer.

Are the bolsters polished or like a brushed finish? Some pics they look shiny and others they aren’t. I got red micarta

I’m happy for everyone that got a knife yesterday.

I was a frustrated with the website.

I tried buying a mammoth ivory #51 that looked white but it wouldn’t allow me to put it in my cart.

Nothing else jumped out at me so I was content with nothing this round.

I got one in green micarta. This will be my first Northwoods (and my first attempt at snagging one.) How often do these get released?

It all depends on what KSF can work out with GEC for any given year. We as the consumer will never know about a release until days defore the drop.

These knives are beautiful! Does GEC produce all the Northwood knives? I think I read somewhere online that there were 500 pieces in this last offering. I don't know if that was true or not. I wonder if that means that there were 100 pieces in each handle material?

Was the Burlap(?) Micarta a new material for them? Also, is that a wharncliff blade? Thanks.

I believe that particular variant of burlap micarta (Smoke) was new, however, they've used burlap in many of their past releases. I got a Lincoln Jack with burlap covers that I really wasn't too fond of...it had too many voids for my liking. I never had that problem with linen, paper, canvas or denim micatra in the past. I think the blade shape it's a categorized as a modified wharncliffe....kind of in between a sheepsfoot and a wharny. Whatever it is...it looks awesome! I have a red linen on the way...shipped this morning :)

GEC has produced the Northwoods knives for the past few years but others have made them before that. There are quite a few Queen made Northwoods knives from the past.

I'll let somebody else answer your other questions because I have to sign off now.

The Fayette is still my favorite Northwoods. I've sold, traded, or gave away all my other Northwoods, but I just can't let the Fayette go. Probably because the #56 is my most favorite frame. So thin and curvy...
